New ship: Panther Clipper

I interpreted it as there being 2 each C7 and C8, and one of each of those is special. i.e. those special slots aren't extra ones on top of the ones they listed.
Agreed. I had to listen back to the stream, because of the roundabout way it was explained, but that's what was said. I now have it at 1236T Min-maxed.

So to recap it for myself.

1x size 1
1x size 2
1x size 4
2x size 5
3x size 6
2x size 7
2x size 8
1 size 7 and 8 slot to fit those extra 50% cargo racks into (this is folded into the above numbers already, right?), they say in the relevant stream segment

... definitely awaiting some more solid info on how the thing handles with fully engineered A rated thrusters before making any decisions one way or the other, anyway.

It's 50% more than the best hauler in the game, what's underwhelming with that?
So is the rest of the ship filled with nice pillows to protect the delicate cargo?
They make the biggest flyable ship in the game, then cripple its capacity - it was predicatable, true - but I don't think it will make enough of a dent in colonisation hauling to encourage me to do more, and doesn't carry sufficiently more to make it worth buying to refill my FC at CB56... Or relive some factions of copious amounts of Palladium!

so it is basically

1x size 1
1x size 2
1x size 4
2x size 5
3x size 6
2.5x size 7
2.5x size 8

Right? That makes 1238 shieldless, right?

So Galnet News Digest calculate 1430 tons:

gnd_pc_stats.jpg

But that is based on 4 optimised (+50%) cargo slots.

In the livestream they specify further: the PC "has two slots that are specifically designed to only take specific modules" and "there are specific modules that will only fit in these slots so only the Panther can have them and that is, specifically, a size 8 and a size 7 on the Panther".

So if the PC has only one optimized size 8 and one optimized size 7 slot (leaving one ordinary of each) it looks to me like the GND calculation would be out by 192 and the actual number would be 1238.

However, GND will be basing their video on info received direct from FDev, embargoed until the end of the stream, that might supercede the contents of the recorded segment, so ..

My OCD shudders at the thought of such asymetric madness :ROFLMAO:

So if 1238 tons (or so) for the PC is the max. 2x round trips full cargo would equal 3 trips (or so) of the prior maxxed out cargo haulers. Over time that will help move alot more cargo, faster

... in other words we have a "Frontier to English" moment where the explanation was clear to them but not necessarily so much to the players?

Because I'm certainly confused.

50% isn't enough, it's just not. They didn't even confirm that much, they said "around 50%". Which could mean even less.

The hardpoints are also just...really bad. Everyone told me to ignore the data-mined numbers that came out a few weeks ago, and it turns out that's exactly what the PC will have, ugh.

Just a major let down. It's too big and slow and poorly armed to do anything but hauling, but it doesn't excel enough as a hauler to make the tradeoffs worth it for Colonization.

Yep. basically this. I understood it different. We demand a power point presentation! *goes off to write an open letter...

I am sorry to say this but my friend and who have both played elite since it very first started will no longerplay this wonderful game if we don't get a powerpoint in june.
We have talked at length about this and this our conclusion.

So will it be a good hull tank if setup that way? Or a shield tank? I wonder what it will feel like to fly...
Also newer better t10 type build with 10 turrets should be interesting
