Geo/Bio Surface Features... Garrrrrrr!

I was actively looking for a system with a rocky body with no bio/geo features and lots of building slots. Each candidate system I do full FSS scan. I found a good system. I had checked, double checked, and triple checked this system. Unfortunately I do not have a 'before' screen print to prove this. Maybe I am wrong, but this is the 2nd time this has happened to me.

I am 99.99% certain that this planet did not have surface bio features before I claimed the system.
And now there is a Bio signal???

My previous system had a fantastic rocky planet for refinery. I fully completed the primary station and was about to begin surface building when I discovered bio signals. I am sure there weren't originally any... but no screen prints to prove it to myself or others. I immediately gave up on the system and looked for a new system. And now it was about to happen a 2nd time!

Am I crazy? Am I blind and just not seeing the bio/geo signals before claiming a system? It is possible I made mistakes.... but this time I was even more careful.

Bio signal on the rocky body, I'm not going to waste my time for a refinery, its best to have patience and keep looking.

A problem with Bio's is that they only show when you are in the system, if you jump out and access the system map from the galaxy map Bio's do not show.

I am 99.99% certain I verified the candidate planet while in the system following the FSS. Then I zipped over to the nearby colonized system to make the claim. It is possible I screwed up, but twice? I am sometimes careless and I admit I forgot to make the 'before' screenshot which I intended to do.

A port on that planet with no refineries is still going to churn out CMM and Ceramic, never mind if you put down refineries.
I already have several well developed systems. It is my intention to make a megarefinery system. For the time and effort of building this I might as well take a couple hours to find an ideal system to start from.

There is obviously no need to build a megarefinery system. Its just something to do.

Edit:
Hmmm, after several hours I can't find a rocky world planet with 4+ surface slots, a couple orbital slots and no bio/geo signals. Maybe you right and I just be happy with whatever I find.

If you're sticking to pure refineries, then you probably don't need 4+ surface slots.

+0.8 refinery from a strong link is nice, but you get +0.05 from a weak link, and the big boost from development level happens anyway, so you could build the refinery hubs somewhere else. A smaller world can probably still support a substantial megarefinery if you're not having to fight off competing influences.

Seconded. A 3-slot rocky world with a surface base + 2 refinery hubs will already have 3.8 refinery influence, and an orbital put over that should go up to 4.6. That'd be plenty if there's no weak link interference.

It seems to be fairly rare to find rocky bodies with 3-4+ slots that don’t have an atmosphere (and as a result usually biologicals). I’ve certainly not seen any yet that come without one or the other [or either] above 2 or 3 slots, to my memory. Usually they have just one or two.

Not that it has stopped me from using (planning) the rocky bodies around a gas giant for building refineries despite biologicals for a similar project - putting aside a hope Frontier eventually decouples them from Terraforming economy because it doesn’t make a huge amount of sense (at least in terms of how said economy is designed and used in NPC systems), the worst a station will lose as a result is polymers and the conductors, with addition of refinery hubs likely to return the glue and superconductors. Semiconductors, I suppose with planetary influence added and/or some luck you might get those too… but… eh. If you’re building a ‘megarefinery’, you likely already have another port nearby making those.

It’s nowhere near as obnoxious as an industrial planetary influence certainly.
