COMPLETED CG Join Aisling Duval's Call To Arms (Combat)

Totally disagree. I was playing for 2-3 hours making sure to not hit the mega ship and still got deleted 3 times for shooting while taking high G turns and suddenly the ship appeared behind my target. Long range weapons, so hit counted , boom dead...
Also NPCs are programmed to try to lure you into hitting the ship, a clear TRAP from FDEV side. They lose shields and run to the mega ship to hide for 20-30 seconds to get shields back up and then fight you again.. And again the same when they lose shields... This is so frustrating and time consuming....
I also found out the hard way, my fully engineered Python Mk2 was blown up in seconds.
Just wait till they come back or use your thrusters until the NPC is no longer between you and the mega ship.
It makes for some interesting gameplay, you have to be a bit more tactical.

it's frustrating however (other than 1 time) I have still managed to shoot ships trying to use the megaship/base for cover without it aggroing me. I just only use my more accurate weapons then.
to be fair it's a sensible tactic from the npcs and is something I would do in their shoes so no complaints from me on that front.

FD really are rubbish at predicting player engagement however. last CG they manually intervened to artificially extend CG
this CG even the winning side will only just get past 10%
it was obvious the numbers would be down this time, it's a shame FD didn't consider it.

no ground combat
3 teams instead of 2
it's the same space activity as last time so player burnout.

Once you reach rank 98, you have access to all powerplay modules, in every power.
I’m aware of that but I don’t play much so progress is slow - hence picked the power that had the module I most wanted first. But LYR doesn’t really align with either my play-style or ethos so if I’m pledging somewhere long term, LYR probably ain’t it.

Mahon is probably closest “ethos” wise - both Empire and Federation have there issues (slavery / mass surveillance respectively) but if I’m logging on for an hour or so I’m most often hunting bounties in HazRES which, I think, Archer and Grom would most benefit?

Anyway … I fear we’ve digressed!!

Yep, it is almost as if they don't even know that space CZ pay just a fraction of ground CZ. It's not that big of a deal though, FDEV have at least learned to keep the payouts per tier relatively close together and the increase per tier modest.

i cant get over the fact that neither of you realise how to spell realise :D

(note the smiley) also note despite being in Cambridge UK neither does my work PC despite apparently being set to British English :(
You can thank one Noah Webster for that. (A rare case where changing spelling didn't occur entirely naturally, but was pushed and promoted by one single person.)

Thanks to your post i just read the wiki on him... .Every day is a school day etc :)

I am so tempted to update the wiki and replace all the Zs with Ss :D

(in truth I cant argue with the mans logic..... It is odd how some things stuck where as others (tung instead of tongue) didn't, but anyway i digress.)

I hopped on to powerplay specifically to participate in this CG and racked up a comfortable lead, only to now discover that powerplay has its own weekly leaderboard rewards so back into the CZ I gooooo 😭

have you done your weekly PP tasks? if not a few of those will zip you up the boards more than just shooting ships. a lot of it is easy stuff too like scanning a handful of ships, delivering a few rare samples etc.

I'm confused, are you saying the megaship suddenly 'popped in' behind your intended target (like a texture load), and when you missed the shot at your intended target you hit the megaship instead? If it is indeed 'popping in' out of the blue, that is indeed weird. But, if you are in the middle of a turn, and not keeping track of where the megaship is and it 'comes in to view' as you loose your downrange shot, that's just how the game or any scenario irl would work.

I'm also confused as to what's wrong with NPCs 'luring you in.' That is what any pilot would do? In my opinion, that's not a trap. If you were being chased down by a superior pilot, would you not try to get within range of some sort of cover until shields come back up? Personally I thought it was a neat bit of programming on FDev's part. It makes the AI less of 'batting practice' or 'fodder for multicannons.'

This is not a spray and pray scenario. (which to be clear, I also enjoy spray and pray type things, we all do I am sure, but this is not the situation for it) I've personally enjoyed having to pay a bit more attention to my surroundings, I find it more immersive. It also might direct less experienced pilots to check their loadouts, ships, and flying styles to be more appropriate for the situation.

I'd like to be clear that this is all just opinion and civil discussion, I by no means intend to negate your frustration. I'm just offering a different point of view based upon what I've seen happening.

There seem to be some kamikaze pilots flying around the Onyx Bastion.
They are purposely trying to ram me.
Usually small ships like Cobra Mk3, they don't stand a chance, making a dent in my shield but sometimes blowing themselves up.

lol
Yesterday I unintentionally took the drives out on a ship and it started hurtling towards the station. I just followed it in to see...and yep, bonk bonk boom

I really wish I had been recording because it was hilarious

Yup, this is my first week so I had to do my weeklies first to gain access to rank progression. The search and rescue one was a bit of a pain because I either nearly got ripped apart trying to pull a pod out of a rival faction's signal source (kinda my fault, I was in my multirole Cobra Mk V and it is not well-optimized for combat), or bullied out of pickups by allied NPCs in my own faction's sources! But I got it done. o7

As an aside, does Inara track PP ladder standings thresholds the way it does with CGs? I couldn't find it, but maybe I just don't know what to look for.

Yes, I remember doing exactly this in the Thargoid war - when in a space AXCZ near a space outpost, very, very occasionally a megaship turned up ("attention, capital class signature detected") and you could 'hide' near it to take a sort of breather in the combat, watching the fireworks whilst the megaship was shooting the Thargoid attacking you.

So not brand new, but already in game and I feel that an NPC doing it is rather clever programming to include in the NPC AI algorithms!
After all AI is not in itself 'intelligent' it is just old school programming of algorithms.

NPC flying towards the center of the battlefield has been seen in regular CZ for several years (around the time Odyssey was released) and this one is not special this time.

As I think was noted above sometimes the NPCs actually bonk the megaship, spin out, or even get stuck on it 😂
I was fighting at an outpost and several ships ran towards it with me chasing, I usually stopped shooting as we got close, letting the distributer fill up, then let them have it at close range as they started to turn away.
Except this one Cobra III that didn’t turn away but bounced off the outpost tumbling end over end and firing at random, until I blew it up.

So far the outpost has not got annoyed enough at me to shoot so I must be doing something right.

The lag or failure of my contributions counting is distracting but the lack of CZ indicators and chatter isn’t it is just like being in a bounty hunt.

I'm confused.

I've been at the Onyx Bastion megaship in Santy fighting for Aisling against Archer. Previous couple of days, I went through 2 'wars' earning 11 million towards the goal.

Today I did another. But this time, I earned nothing towards the goal. Why?

How’s that different than every other activity in the game? The trick is to not do any one activity for too long.
I dunno, it's hard to explain. Plenty of other activities offer far more feedback and reward. CQC is a great example; I enjoy CQC because it's fast paced, you can get a dozen kills in a round. Against another player, it's just...circle, circle, circle. Almost AX-like but less interesting because there's essentially less to think about. And when you get finished, it just starts all over again when they respawn.

Slowness combined with lack of impact. Give me CQC any day. Or PVE.
