Are there discoveries/mysteries in the game that are yet to be uncovered?

Besides all codex stuff, astronomically interesting system or planets, it is not like something is hidden somewhere. Mysteries are planted/spawned by devs when needed for plot reasons, that's all.

Do we know about anything that we don’t know about yet?
Mostly this.

FDev have strongly hinted at there being many things in the game that haven't been found yet, and have made things easier to find through changes to System Scanning, SCO, etc., but we don't really know what we don't know, only that there's stuff we don't know.

The "locations" field.

The "signals" part could also indicate something interesting, but most often it's just a crashed thargoid probe (AFAIK those are generated randomly and aren't all that interesting.)
I never did pay attention to that but I guess I should now, probes have always showed up in the navigation menu anyway so I presume any other locations also would

Locations and Features in the system map but the stuff that's likely to represent something hidden should be in locations.
Signals in the FSS where you're usually looking for Other, Guardian or Thargoid however Biological is important when you're hunting hidden stuff as at least for guardians Brain trees are a marker that you're in a guardian area with ruins.

If you for example found a new sphere of brain trees you'd expect to find a completely unknown set of guardian ruins within. Since they've done it before if you find any sphere of horizons biology it'd be an area to check for hidden stuff.
I'm about 6-7k LY from Sag A (and will be going there within a few weeks) so I would imagine the chance of me finding brain trees all the way out here might be unlikely?

At this stage, with the data we have. It is unlikely that there are more without additional narrative inserting new ones. I use it as an example of how they direct players towards hidden stuff not as something that you have a chance of discovering. They hide stuff but generally in a way designed to be found.

With so many systems and bodies in those systems, and systems with bodies that are well over 200,000Ls away from the main stars, I wonder about those far-flung planets that are so far out there.

How many commanders actually visit those planets that are 300-400KLs away from the main star? I'd venture a guess not many.

Up to this point at least, I don't bother going to any planet that is over 100KLs. In fact, I have never ventured beyond 100kLs. I have zero idea what's out there, and so far, I have zero incentive to go there. I've even passed on what I believe was almost certain Tectonicas, mainly because it's not certain.

Now if something very interesting were to pop up on a FSS...maybe.

I will say finding a couple times a random non-human signature was cool...

The thing is that the "locations" field appears in the FSS scanner display, so even if you are just quickly FSS-scanning a new system you'll notice it. You probably aren't going to DSS-scan every single planet you find.

More random mysteries and discoveries which are only loosely related to the main story (if we want to regard the Thargoid events as 'main story') would be my main request. The chance to stumble on something like ancient (non-Guardian) ruins or artifacts, abandoned settlements or ship wrecks, more life forms in the middle of nowhere would be very much my preference of game play. The game mechanics could work that a nav beacon somewhere away from the bubble or a station mission giver could send you on a breadcrumb trail. I do not expect anything big, just the random serendipitous encounter with some more mystery out there.

- so far there's only been one World of Death found,
sorry newb question but what/where is a 'World of Death' ?*
( and is there an old forum thread about it , like whenever it was first discovered? )

*Yes i realize i can just Google it , but i'd rather ask fellow CMDR @Ian Doncaster aka someone i presume to be an actual HUMAN not some ai bot (n)

Given some of the weird things like void hearts have only been found in a few places a long way from the Bubble, I'd guess that there are other similar objects no-one has seen yet. Far less than 1% of star systems have been visited.

It's a landable planet moderately near Colonia in the Spoihaae XE-X d2-9 system. It's in an extremely tight extremely eccentric orbit which takes it inside the exclusion zone and jet cone of a neutron star. SRVs are immune to jet cone damage, so you can get some amazing and unique views ... if you can figure out how to land there without dying. Good luck.

Where the Dredgers are.
One of these has actually been found somewhat by accident (thank Frontier showing it more obviously through use of the "Blocked" systems in colonization filter), that being the Scriveners Clan in Synuefai OS-O c8-1... but it has received a grand total of zero attention from Frontier and there doesn't appear to be anything new there. Only noteworthy thing I've seen in the immediate vicinity is an ELW in the same system as the dredger, but it's not parked around it. Only in the same system.

(I assume it's still sitting there since my visit a few weeks ago)

Extreme procedural outliers are possible, though - so far there's only been one World of Death found, [...]
Since January of this year, we have an even closer one, the Plunging World.

I actually discovered a brand new system with brain trees a few months ago but completely forgot about it until now, as far as I know that's an indication that there are Guardian ruins somewhere nearby

They're in Plio Eurl ZQ-V b57-5 on planets B1 and B2, which must mean that Guardian ruins are within a 100LY radius of this system
Sorry, but there's nothing new there. You can find brain trees within 750 ly of Gamma Velorum, while the Guardian ruins don't cover nearly as much of the same sphere. See this thread for a list of where the known zones are.

Another "mystery" that's worth noting in my opinion: the missing two Dynasty megaships. There were three, and the Zurara was found. Personally, I doubt that the other two are actually in-game - but even if they were, the given search area is so vague and huge in volume that it'd be practically impossible to survey without more clues to go on. (Hey, maybe the devs will silently slide out some before DW3 flies through.) The Dynasty plotline is done anyway, so unless Frontier wanted to weave the Guardian Constructs in there, finding either of the megaships would just be a passing curiosity, nice material for videos.

One mystery is why we are not able to refuel our fleet carriers remotely. I just can't work that out.

Flimley
That'd be fairly convenient but I can't see how it would be practical, FC can go a minimum of 4k LY before the tritium depot needs to be replenished and I can't really see why you'd need to remotely refuel it
Sorry, but there's nothing new there
Ah damn, it was about 1.5k south-southwest of the bubble that I found them

I'd like to believe yes, but with a recent patch came a bug. If there was more stuff out there it would have been found by this just based on how many players would have exploited it. The fact that nothing new popped up during this period is quite disheartening. Not because a bug was used, but it would have been nice to have confirmation that something... anything... that contained lore or alien is out there. But it seems like it was confirmation that all story content is patch gated. Seems like all the innuendo hints aren't just to increase the mystery of Elite Dangerous, but more like a carrot on a stick trick to keep us old players tugging along.

as a person who saw a ifo once (it was disk shaped height 50ft silent and the size of a boing 747) way back in 85
real life is far more mysterious for me even though i have not seen one since:alien:
it had seaweed hanging of its strange manifolds on its underside even though it was 50 miles inland
i saw it for all of ten seconds and then it just vannished
i have been a ufo hunter ever since but to no avail
even stranger 2 hrs had passed in those 10 seconds which i only noticed when i got home from walking the dog over wimbledon common as i got home at 11am instead of 9am
i believe i may have been caught in a time dialated/distorted bubble as it slowly flew overhead then disapeared🤷‍♂️

que sacastic comments as i would not believe me either...........
(would gladly take a lie detector test)
i enjoy the mockery ive had tbh:ROFLMAO:
