What could this mean

Frontier have posted this in their fb.
Surely it's a dlc based on the water stuff.
But what would they add and what would like to see?

They posted a video on twitter, too.

I can't see that anything is going to get released or new...

They've deleted the social media links from the PC2 main site.

Now they're advertising to use discord.
The question is, why should we use it? Is there anything better than to use these forums?

The video on Facebook I just saw was just advertising the game as something for the summer. Nothing new in it.

Not all of us want to use Discord. It's fine for those who do.

Cause not every advertisement is directed at you. I can get the idea, that many people probably use discord than face the hassle to register and post at a forum. Many people already have discord installed. Frontier showed us and it is also in other companies, that internet forums arent there no.1 source anymore regarding their fanbase. It is not the 2000s anymore...

I agree with rct-uwe1. Since they have opted to have these these forums, which is on their official page for Frontier, the company behind the game, this is where any news should be announced first, along with on all major social media platforms. You don't need to register on any of these to read...

I would also argue that there is only a minority of the whole player base that use Discord. Most casual players don't even know what that is, especially on the console market, which is where Frontier has made it very clear they are focusing on, with PC players as an afterthought.

Using these forums makes a whole lot more sense than using Discord for Frontier.

This is what discord is a social media plattform with 200 million users.Especially gamers nowadays a probably more familiar with discord than facebook....

But it's really stupid to spread the communication even further!
How should the players find the answers if Frontier (or other players) is responding to one topic here and to an other topic there?
It will double and tripple each question...

I agree to a certain point, but this all about reach: if you ask a question here: how many people actually read such a question? 50-60?

Yes, it will double some questions, but the question would potentially reach more people. But it isnt something that is new: You can ask questions on x, facebook, etc. This forum as much as i hate to say is probably the smallest community out there, especially it is a bit of an echo chamber....

Yes, Discord seems to be getting bigger and bigger, especially in gaming communities. I think we can all think of large YouTube channels related to Planet Coaster (1 + 2). Most of those also have equally large Discord communities. While it's not for me, as I play for fun/to relax and don't plan on taking part in challenges and competitions, I do understand why Frontier will also be using Discord.

You don't have to, it's just there in case people would like to use it. At least here you can talk back and forth about a single topic and not get lost in the General Discussion on Discord.
I understand that this is a way to present the game to a bigger audience. Bigger audience in that way that other players will notice the existence of PC2, not that many PC2 players are using it related to the game...

Isn't it mainly used for online multiplayer communication while playing a game?
I can't imagine that it would be an usefull tool for PC2.
Is it time to leave the forums?

FYI, the Frontier Unlocked Discord server has active Frontier Community managers who actually respond to comments as well as the new, official Suggestions section which they have stated is where they will be looking for suggestions, and inferring that they aren't paying much attention to these forums. (No, really?) I'm not a big fan of Discord, but it is what it is...

Its bonkers they are not in their own offcial forums. I use Discord to talk to real life friends and have no interest in joining groups etc.

It wouldnt be hard for a memeber of the community team to pop in here a couple times a day.

I think some of you are vastly overestimating the use of Discord for the Planet X crowds. Yes, it is a large platform for games to hang out in, but it is not a large platform for the general mass of people, the casual gamer. That group of people are what brings in the build of the money for any gaming company. That is also the group of people you never hear much from or about. Places like Discord or Steam forums are where the loud minority is, which from a financial standpoint is insignificant in many ways, possible even backfiring for this particular game as seen in the past with special treatment for those few people, making many of us "normal, but passional" gamers frustrated.

Now, As Tilly-Tony said above, it is beyond stupid that there is not one official channel where communication from Frontier, and answers to feedback is being used. Where should one ask questions and provide feedback? There is a feedback section here, but there are never any answers to the feedback. Should we use Discord, or Steam or these Forums? Perhaps we should post on YouTube videos comment section or on X? This is, in my opinion, an epic failure from a community management standpoint from Frontier as no one knows which platform to use to communicate. the result is that nothing gets answered properly and the same questions are being asked over and over on each platform.

Please bring back Bo and her team. Community management works a million times better under her guidance for PC1.
