Newcomer / Intro issues with anti virus/firewall

Hi

have opened a support ticket but yet to get a response, I wondered whether the community can help. I downloaded the combat trainer and game and initally couldnt get either to work - I managed to get the trainer to work by switching off Kaperskey and windows defender/firewall but still cant actually get the open game to work (on elite dangerous - can do inital combat missons but nothing more). I wondered whether anyone else had had the isssue and could suggest any fixes? I also cant really find the game on my system as i was thinking I could try to get antivirus etc to not scan it.

anyhelp wouyld be appreciated. And is it normal to take 30mins to defeat the 1st npc in combat training on your first go - or am I just epically bad

I have Kaspersky and you don't need to switch it all off, just switch off the banner blocker - for some reason this stops the game and patches downloading.

When you have started the launcher are you logging on before clicking the "Play" button? If not then you will only have the combat demos to play with. Once you have logged on if you have downloaded the game you will get the option of playing the combat demos or "Eliteangerous". Make sure the latter is highlighted before clicking "Play" and you should be OK. If you have not installed the game then the "Play" button is replaced by "Install".

(Note: even when installed the "Play" button will change to "Upgrade" if there are any patches that need downloading.)

I would screenprint an image of the launcher but I am not at home so don't have the launcher available on my work's PC (more's the pity).

you didnt answer the bit about the noobie taking 40min to kill the enemy on the combat tutorial bit!

Hmm! I've not had that specific error so if you have Kaspersky switched off maybe it is a corrupt installation and a re-install with Kaspersky off (or banner blocker at least) will help.

As for the bit about taking 40 mins to kill an enemy - I don't think it is just you. It took me long enough and I have a HOTAS flight stick! Combat, at least early on is a time consuming but rewarding process especially if all of your weapons are "fixed" and not "gimballed" so you have no aim assist. I now have 2 kills in elite so I am as far away from an Ace as you can get
