Gradually Losing Respect for Frontier Development - Here is Why

Other people being granted 5 billion credits is only an issue if you happen to view the game as competitive. I and many others do not so it makes not a jot of difference to me that they have this money, either earned or gifted.

You and many others are not the whole community. If you don't care and it makes no difference to you, then leave the topic to those who DO care, please.

You obviously have failed to see the real point.

As far as support I've actually never personally experienced real wait times from support in 32 years. I would expect it on New Years or Christmas Day. Or Thanksgiving. Possibly weekends, but I always expect a response within 3 days. When it comes to the point that you've received no response and no assistance in 7+ days for players that can't access their account, you have a problem. That is the one ticket that should receive attention the quickest.

Like I said it wasn't even that alarming to me at first, but other alarming actions or inaction by Frontier is starting to make it feel more apparent that it's not an issue of timing, but rather a series of continually repeating low quality of service and development.

I hit the same wall with the probably / maybe wipe "announcement" for the end of gamma.

I tried to purchase a copy of the game for someone for Christmas, I still haven't had any response from ED and its now Jan 7th.
I understand not getting support on Christmas day, and maybe not getting support in general fro 24 hours, but when you say that your support team is still working over the holidays someone should get in contact within 2 weeks.

Well, that post actually does state that they have a choice of keeping the credits.

What does it matter, it's not a competitive game and they would not be eligible for the Elite races doing that anyway. I've seen players flying around in Clippers, 7s, 9s & Pythons so there are an awful lot of players that have raked the cash in - doesn't matter, the only people they would be cheating by keeping the credits is themselves..

I believe Andrew Barlow posted earlier that is was under 50 people... and as he seems to be part of the FD Staff, I guess we can take him at his work eh?
Here's the post you are referring to : https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=92883&p=1448005

Also Micheal Brooks did also post earlier stating that the players who got the 5bn cr did not cheat or do anything wrong

Could you point me at where Michael says the 5 billion people did not cheat or do anything wrong please.

I've looked through and I can't see any such post.

If it is not just pure veil jealously why does this exist https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=93930

again a lot play solo Mode or in a PVE Group so what?

I seriously don't think people that feel that this is jealousy are really reading some of our posts instead of skimming them quickly. There are plenty of legitimate reasons for feeling that this is an error in judgement and we're justified in losing a small amount of trust in Frontier for making these decisions.

A quick question on the 5b credit.

What if my bank was to drop 5b Euro in my account by mistake. Can I also keep cash or would i be expected to give the cash back because I knew it wasn't mine?

just a thought ;)

They would take it back. And if you tried to spend/move it you would most likely end up in jail ;)

So do you feel somehow cheated out of money you weren't entitled to in the first place, and now want it? Has it harmed your enjoyment of the game in some way perhaps? I think too many players are looking over their neighbours fence with envious eyes and should probably concentrate on their own back yard a little more and enjoy what they have, not lament what they don't.

I'll leave the thread when I am bored though, not when I am told, thanks. Don't feel hurt or attacked, I'm just expressing an opinion just as you are.

Having 5 billion credits out of the air is something you can change the game with. You can affect factions, you can give money to friends to do the work. or you can spend the money to grief others. Lets be honest, its not exactly the people with the best morale standard that kept the credits.

I can easily imagine that if I was given 5 billion credits and wanted to grind some people. I bet I could within a week get the first 500 people to either drop the game forever or never play anything again than solo mode. Because my risk = 0. While they may lose hours of work every single time for a bit of riskless lulz.

Its a terrible decission and it will haunt Frontier from now on and to the end of the game. their actions will always be questioned unless they reverse it and remove the credits.

Most people I know already dropped open play due to this. And I have problems playing open game myself as well. Due to the fact of what if I meet one of these on a bad day.

I rekon, how weird is that?

If they actually won that credit as part of a lottery, then they should have publicly declared it, otherwise it would appear to me that it is a form of "under the table" dodgy deal...

My way of thinking, which certainly would relieve a lot of perceived stress and disappointment you seem to have is this;

Less than 50 people won the "galaxy" lottery.

In real life, someone winning the lottery has not affected my life, or anyone I know or have ever known's life in any way, shape or form. It will not in Elite either. The chances of you ever meeting one of the billionaires is minutely small. As it is in real life.

My advice, and please don't take this the wrong way, is just get on with it, and enjoy yourself man.

I found the less time I spent in the forum whinging about things and the more time I spent playing the game, the happier I was with how I was spending my free time. Give it a try, chill out and try to just enjoy it for what it is. :)

like plz because i have looked at most if not all them post and saw no where it was 50 or under 50

and yes my friend has same specs as me and im able to play and yes he has done everything short of formatting his pc

well then you missed the post this afternoon (my local time) by andrew about the issue as well as the post by micheal detailing the FD position on it... It was stated as UNDER 50 I will see if I can find the post

ahh here it is

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=92883&p=1448005&highlight=#post1448005

and micheal did address a number of founders issues in fairly long post earlier today

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=93710

And there has also been a recent post by andrew which is about a server update which also mentions about the database problem being fixed

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=93608&p=1459392&highlight=#post1459392

and perhaps its time for your friend to format his PC and try from a fresh installation, I mean surely you have the same hardware and same OS but there may well be other programs he has running in the background causing problems?

I think it was going to cause too much damage to rollback to fix the billionaires/exploiters, too much damage or too much time as really there was no precident that they'd actually get to keep the funds so its not like they had to save face. They can only have chosen this path from a conclusion drawn with more information and just like I said when it first came to light that everything was breaking, the longer you wait to rollback the less likely you will.

I know some that would consider it game over if they received 5 bill, no need to farm missions to get the biggest ship/best weapons yknow and it doesn't sound like theres much else out there

I can't agree really.

It was a mistake to go live right before a major holiday, but a minor one. I played the entire time with only ONE bad server day. It went surprisingly smooth for such an anticipated game.

A week to refund isn't that big a deal in the "real world". Again, over a holiday. If he never received a refund that would be different.

I am, miffed on how they handled the billionaire raffle and I could care less about the "race to elite" (I have a job), only what ships may be blowing me up for no risk to the billionaires in the future. Key there is miffed. I still played yesterday.

There is far to much awesome in elite to complain about a few issues the first few weeks.
