Python/Class 6 thruster issue? (Devs please have a look)

Increase the base hull mass by a lot. Ban it from medium pads.

I'm happy with the FD amendments though. Maybe the speed change is too much though.

Seems I cannot link the video of 1 single Viper destroying a Python, but I bet you've all seen it...

Watching that as someone who owns a Viper but not a Python I can't help but feel are u smoking. I mean really I feel sorry for the Python players.

1 Viper is suppose to have 0 chance vs a ship like the Python. Take 5 or more Vipers and have them work together properly and yes then you kil the Python
PLS note that you are talking about a Viper, a ship with a base cost of 148k vs a Python, a ship with a base cost of 56mil, expensive fuel, repair etc.
(it gets even more silly and out of sync if you consider the full upgrade costs)

1 skilled, correctly armed Viper can already take out a Python (that needs fixing in my mind) but now you want to make it that every 2nd Commander with a Viper can take out a Python?

The balance just does not seem right to me. With this you should also maybe consider bringing the price down of the Python to lets say just a little over the ASP price range as to me it does not seem worth the buck.

If you want ppl to trade, bounty hunt and spend insane amounts of time trying to make money so they can buy expensive ships like the Python then it should be a monster. If not when the hell is the use in doing that. I'll rather just stay with my Viper and make people quite the game entirely (ie killing their expensive blocks of bricks)

I think you dev's etc are a bit rusty or maybe just well old...

The Python is a heavy ship with powerful shields and a pilot who fails so hard that it is super funny. BTW which of all those viper kills python video mean? The one with the dumbfire missiles that kill the Python within a few seconds or the long double chaff + friends vs gimballed fail fit Python or the ... you get my point.

Skill > 100 Million credits.

After the nerfs, who will continue to fly the Python? I sold my 180 million Python yesterday. Back to trading in Anaconda, hoping for a fast Vulture release. I fear the Python will share the faith of the orca and dropship. Just to expensive for being a small upgrade to the T7. Python will be the ship you buy on the way to the T9 or Anaconda. And you will be happy if you can finally get rid of it. It was the shiny tasty carrot on a stick for me. It kept me playing the game. Now that is gone for many players. You should release the Vulture asap. Just big trade ships will not keep people playing the game.

ah yes, the infamous dumbfire kills brought up here and there again by people as a reason the nerf to python is wrong.

the part I did never understand about that argument is by what magic Anaconda, Clipper, dropship, asp are made invulnerble to the same strategy...

Are you talking to me or just in case someone might now use this to say a nerf is wrong. With nerf or without, a properly counter outfit will destroy always the ship it was build against.
The magic for the asp is btw being faster and doing the same thing better ;-)

The clipper might have the speed, but it has not the agility, so no idea if it can defend itself effectively against bombers. Maybe. And the rest falls into the same trop, it should go down to bombers by all means. Don´t use heavy ships without escort fighters, even a pair of eagles should keep multiple missile vipers away.

Lol. I think ship is good and it not need any nerfing. Maybe too slow. It should have 400 on boost.

Go and learn how to play kids, maybe then you buy one of pythons.

What is the counter to the Viper with dumbfires then?

Ironically eagles with dumbfire, they stand normally no chance against vipers and cobras, because they never get in range to deliver their payload, but a dumbfire viper can not kite anymore and is a lot less agile than an eagle. Theoretically you might be able to kite an dumbfire viper with a cobra, but the speed difference is kind of small, so I would not bet money on it.

Stat dump for those that care :p Just remember my percentages before were rough estimates. You might find solace or despair below:

Base Shield Health 390 - 260

0 Pips to engines
Maximum Speed 160 - 140
Max Boosted Speed 280 - 220

Max Forward Acceleration 32 - 30
Max Retro Acceleration 19 - 18
Max Transverse Acceleration 19 - 16

MaxPitchRate 30 - 22
MaxRollRate 100 - 90

4 Pips to engines
Maximum Speed 250 - 200
Max Boosted Speed 330 - 280
Max Pitch Rate 38 - 27

If you want to drop base shields and agility you need to give something in exchange.
About 400-420 on boost wil be equal to lowering shields to radiculous level.

Mike, is that a joke?
This ship will be completely useless. Just another space truck.

not you personally. anybody really.

Never tried a dumbfire viper build so I simply don't know how other medium and big ships would avoid the same fate. And am on me way to the center of the galaxy, so trying one ain't a particularly practical option right now.

Well, if other ships can't avoid the same fate. the strategy working on python is not a reason to not nerf her. If ever it's a reason to nerf dumbfire attacks efficiency.

How many dumbfire kills can one get out of a viper before needing to rearm. and what is the cost of a full rearm.

Well look, I have not had the game for long but it just does not seem right to me that myself, a guy with a decently kitted viper can go and just kill a guy in a Python and now its going to be made so much easier.

98/100 times I'm suppose to just loose I'd rather say, so it should be a massive massive risk for me to try and fight him, but because my ship is so small I can actually afford to try it if I want.
When I think about a battle ship like a Python dying I think about a bunch of little fighter ships like Vipers working nicely together to take it down. I can picture that in movie style and its awesome.

What are you paying 56mil for, lets make that 180mil when you properly have it battle ready and why exactly would you want to do that? To be frustrated and made bust by max 3mill Vipers?

Can someone give me a reason why I should continue trying to make money to buy bigger, more expensive ships as with this news I feel I already have the best fighting ship in the game, the Viper.
I can only see 1 reason, if you want to be a full time trader and trade just for the sake of having more credits. Not really my aim in the game.

So lets talk about weapon power for the Python. With the nerfs you need stronger weapons. A "heavy weapon platform" needs heave weapons.

Were are the Class3 Multicannons?
Were are the Class3 Rail Guns?
Were are the overcharged weapons?

The python can easily hold energy hungry weapons. Give it to us. When a Python rarely can land a hit, it has to destroy a small ship.

You should be able to kill at best two heavy player ships with your missiles. And iirc about 1k pre missile on the viper, (250 credits on the eagle btw), so you spend about 50k easily for an anaconda kill. *g*
Here a funny asp dumbfire testing video against npcs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ps-GaRpDZfQ

And now the twist: Dumbfire Missiles are buggy. Point Defense can not damage the missiles and is for that reason completely ineffective against them.

While I generally agree that the Python doesn't need any nerfing, I don't agree with talking down to others and suggesting that they don't know how to play simply because they don't feel the same way as you do. It's just not necessary, and it's not productive in convincing them to take your position. It's particularly bad when your post has so many grammatical errors.

This. We need a ship that fits the role of the pre nerf python. And the Viper needs to be toned done. Maybe just 4 small hardpoints.
