Fer de lance and expected python nerf

The amount of money people get so quick in the game surprises me. I not over 100.000 and I'm playing for a week now. I have to say that the bountyhunting isn't really paying off at the moment, but it's fun to do.

Some people think that the fun is in watching the credit balance go up b/c that means they can get into what is perceived as the best combat ship. If you are having fun bounty hunting, keep doing that and ignore your balance.

I've got a bout 3 million in liquid credits and probably another 10-15mil sunk into my fleet of ships. This after playing the game since the opening of Gamma (didn't wipe at release) w/o ever feeling like grinding. I bounty hunt, a-b-a trade, rare trade, mine, explore, and take missions interchangeably. I never do the same thing for too long and have never felt hard pressure to get anything better/bigger/more expensive than a Cobra or T6. When my balance is big enough to buy two at full price, I'll probably get an Asp to replace my exploration Adder, but that is the extent of my plans for now.

As for the little nerf here, I think it is welcome. The Python just turns too well for its size...being essentially a gunboat, it should require at least minimal fighter support if going into any engagement more challenging than farming NPCs. Just my, very unimportant, opinion.

Nor did you say gimballed. And fixed are the least expensive and dealing more damage. Taking into account that Vultures are going to have only 2 hard points I'd choose fixed weapons over the gimballed ones as gimballed weapons are countered with chaff too effectively.

Except gimbals are much lighter thus giving you more maneuverability ...and you can effectively counter chaff by de-targeting the opponent, while maintaining the huge advantage that gimbals give you in case he isn't equipped with dual chaff launchers.

Edit: ok the lighter part may not be true. They're still less power demanding though.

And even the Asp has the "Explorer" right in its' name. Although it's able to fight very well (mainly because if the very good hardpoint placement) it's not a real fighter. The new Vulture will be around the same price range I guess.
I suspect that the Fer de Lance might be around the Asp price, and the Vulture will be quite a bit more. But I guess we'll see. ;)

From what Mike said I rather suspect the Vulture isn't going to lack for manoeuvrability... ;)

And you explained why it is medium not large. Dimensions are physical attributes.

It fit medium pad, it is a bit larger than asp so this is medium.
It is wide as asp but longer. So thats why it is medium not large.

It is math man. Measurable dimensions.
If it will be bigger it will be large.

Every signs on sky points its medium not large.

FD are not changing the performance characteristics because it is or isn't small, medium or large, but because they feel it is necessary.

You can split hairs until the cows come home ( and I have no doubt you will ), but the changes will be happening regardless.

I have a maxed Python...

I don't go looking for smaller ships to fry, i sit in Lave most nights at the nav point with my 2 .5 mill bounty looking for 3-5 Vs 1's.

If a lone pilot attacks me in a small ship i fire back -very occasionally- but mostly i feel bad killing lone pilots as it has next to no challenge. Go youtube and type in my name you'll find me in many such encounters :)

Whats your in game name (send me PM) ill add you, find you and we can pvp for real ;)

Then lets get it on.. my name is in the screen shots.. it's no secret Mongo The Mangler... with a name like that I sure ain't no trader..

It was confirmed in a reply to my ticket that 19t mass of the fixed beam lasers is a bug in the data base.

Who are you to say what the Python needs when you have never owned one, have no intention of owning one, and no Python owner even looks at you as a viable target target. the ship costs 100 times the cost of the average fighter.. if this is about balance then it shouldn't need a fighter escort at 180,000,000... Nerf the base Python as I said but leave the capabilities where they are for the fully upgraded Python

My only other ship is an anaconda... ;)

Feel free to try though my friend that's the point i hang about there, many have tried and failed ^_^ Bring friends tho !

Last time it took 5 hours ish to kill me and lots of players died trying.

Not because i'm such a great player tho, just because the Python is strong and i have a bit of experience now with it :)

You're not good at using Python, you're good at using Shield Cell. This is totally different.

I think thats a little bit rude, He certainly is good at using shield cells but until they get nerfed we probably can't tell if he is good or not with the python, doesn't automatically mean he isn't, he could be great in it.

And thats from someone who previously called him out for sounding condescending i'm not exactly a fan here!

Nerf the base Python but keep the stats on the high end one? That's the first suggestion that I've heard that actually makes sense and could actually resolve the issue to everyone's desires.

I feel certain that this issue will not be resolved to everyone's desires.

Wasn't me.

I assume you are going off a fight with multiple enemies all attacking me?

Like the other day on Thorrns stream when a Python, clipper and 2 vipers thought they were great at pvp for taking me down?

Shame i have killed all of them in single combat ;)

Added you in game btw mangler ^_^

Shame they probably didn't take shield cell yes. Try this after the Shield Cell nerf, or even Python nerf.
2 Vipers will be enought ;)

it may not solve 100% of the gripes but anything less destroys the ship... Too weak, expensive, to fight with, not enough cargo to trade with for long before you buy a type 9.. the ship will have no purpose...

Yes they all had cell banks -multiples of them at that- and were set for pvp.

Shield cell nerf will hit vipers far harder than Pythons btw we have power to spare they don't ;)

The Python is too agile for its size, and the shields have been acknowledged as being out of whack compared to where it should be.

The balancing is going to continue until FD have a fair few more ships in; I'd expect things to settle down once we see the next 7 or 8 ships come in (for the existing ships anyway) as the various roles are filled out. Sometimes it'll be buffs, other times it will be nerfs. Sorry if it upsets you but this is still early in the evolution of this game and changes like this will happen.

Most of the whiners on here don't even own a Python. So they have not grinded for it and are green with envy. 'QQ my Viper got owned by a Python QQ'. Go grind one then ask for a nerf!

I'm going to wait to see what FD do about the Python, and if it is too harsh (yes companies in the past listen to whiners then regret doing it later then use the buff-bat!) then there'd better be an upside. Presently there is so little to the game that grinding for good ships is the ONLY good thing. Over to you FD !
