Elite / Frontier Every Version of Elite

I can only find 1 boxed copy of the original for sale and it's in pretty good condition, might have a punt on it....
Oh, all right then. Three boxed copies on a worldwide search, and two "disc only" listings. I wouldn't have been able to make such a smarty-pants post if I'd gone into the details though :p

Nice collection :) A true Elite fan. I had original Frontier for Amiga 500 and FFE for Pc :) Sadly I didnt take care of the boxes as they surely would be collectebles by now. I will give my E.D box better care though. As I have learned from my mistakes :p

Sadly they are really not that collectable. The original Elite can be picked up for £10 which is less than the original cost! Maybe an unopened pristine copy would be worth more?

Absolutely Awesome Collection.

You must WOW us with Pics of your Machine collection as well - all switched on - and running Elite would be Super Impressive :)

Well... prepare to be amazed!! I do indeed have all the machines!! I collect computers from my childhood (Mostly 8bit) and have collection of around 60 machines now. I can run Elite in its REAL RAW and ORIGINAL form, on the actual hardware. The only thing I dont have, is the OPUS drive for the speccy.

Some people call me Geek, others call me Nerd. I am WAY WAY further along the scale than either :D

And to top it all..... I work in I.T.

I think its time for a wee play of Elite..... Lets choose.... Today I think I will play the Archimedes Version. On an actual Arch A310.... :D:eek:
Is this the drive you are talking about?
ZX Spectrum - Opus Discovery One (1 day left on eBay - UK only)

Some are very rare, and therefore expensive, IF you can track them down. I have been collecting for a long time. I was lucky enough to have 2 copies of the rare Tatung Einstein version of Elite. I recently sold it on ebay to a fellow collector for £120. Yes you can get the speccy tape version for a few quid, but you try and track down the OPUS speccy edition.... if you can find it, it will not be cheap. I know. I have them all :D

Can you post a few pics of the Opus spectrum version and its contents please?

I believe this is hard to obtain due to being only available in the uk at boots on trade in of your cassette version. Considering the opus was nearly £200 at the time of an addition, not many people made the jump to it.

Indeed I can mate. Here you go ;

OK, I know its not technically number 27, but I have just been going through my Micro collection, and looking through my software boxes, I pulled out this!! - I remember seeking it out a couple of years ago, but I just stored it away. Anyway.... now its out, and is officially part of my Elite collection.

Ok something I have never seen before.

What is the Leroy Elite Helpbook that comes with this C64/128 version ? I've never seen it mentioned anywhere before.

?

Never seen anything like that before may have been a US only book.

Some thing which has piqued my interest is this Guinness entry for Elite
http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com...rmat-releases-for-a-space-trading-video-game/

Never heard or seen a copy of Elite for the NEC 9800 series(Japan only), so does it exist or is it a mistake.

Anyone have it ? what is in it ?

Sounds like it was not in the original package. I don't know.
@LoudScotBloke can you check your versions and perhaps let us know ?

Leroy's Helpbook for Elite was not boxed with Elite anywhere or at any time. It was written some time later by a company called, Cheatsheet Products. Neither the company nor the author of said book, David Palmer, can any information be obtained through the usual searches.

Well, looks like we have something here....a partial mystery.

I could not find much on the Leroy guide either, no screenshots, no PDF nothing. Only that pic on ebay.

Ok I need some assistance from the community.

I just got a near mint ZX Spectrum copy of Elite. It does not have a lenslok but everything else is intact....and practically MINT. Seriously the box looks like it is from 1984 as in timemachine 1984. It's perfect.

Anyway from my research whilst a lot of ZX Spectrum versions of Elite came with a lenslok, apparently not ALL of them did.

Can anyone confirm if this is the case or did ALL of them come with it and mine is just missing it ?

Cheers everyone.

I think you are right Styggron from my hazy memory I seem to remember something about the lenslok system getting binned because it was so unpopular but I could be wrong.
