Couldn't comprehend what I was seeing

I'll have to remember that system when I eventually head back in. If it cuts the twilight zone shorter then that's a good thing.

Well done on making it back in one piece! :)

Wonderful, I always enjoy learning about another system beyond the frontier!

There are so few, and I've visited all that I know about. Canopus/Exphiay, New Yembo, Quince... Paradiso Outpost will certainly see a visit on my return to populated space.

I felt the call too, brother. I sold my CM3 and T6 for an Asp.

I'm living on The Edge.

(to be fair it is the cheaper Lambda Andromedae one I earned and I would have been mad not to get it)

Posts like this fire me up. My own Cobra (which I have dubbed the Lostradomus) is one ADS away from being ready to go. Everything else is in place. Another day or two of trading rares will do it.

Thank you for the inspiring story commander!

When my ship is free of the open sky, It's a damn good day to my way of mind"

I'm a long way out, about 15kly from Sol, but relaxing and taking a break from my seemingly endless trek across the galaxy.

Learning of a new station inspired me to start looking through the galaxy map in the neighborhood of Sol. It seems that those new outposts from the community goal have arrived, as there is a rough line of new independent stations heading to the galactic southwest from the direction of Lambda Andromedae, just above the ecliptic.
HIP 8396, Takurua, Almagest, Robigo, Ceos, and Sothis.

If I recall correctly, Fehu and Aditi have been around, though I don't recall seeing LTT 9846 and BD+22 4939 inhabited.

Hopefully yet more more stations remain undiscovered further out. :)

do it in a cobra. max out that FSD and you'll never look back. cobra can make it to SGT A* no problem.

Yeah... but specced out the way I'd feel "safe", it's still just 24Ly jump range...

I have seen a few posts where people are so glad they could jump 35Ly - not sure any amount of weight saving will allow that with a Cobra.

Z...

take care!!!

Thank you CMDRs

Great read. I was exploring but lost my motivation. This has given it back +1

Thanks, and awesome to hear I was able to get you back to going out into the black. Go!

THIS is why I finally decided to join ED

Welcome aboard, Commander. See you in the black.

Thanks, CMDRs. I never could have sold my Cobra, or even my trusty T6. I like to have something to fall back on if need be.
Was surprised though that when I did try the Cobra that I wasn't all gung ho to get out there again. The black has a strong calling to me..

Thanks CMDR! Good luck, I'm sure your Cobra will take care of you, as long as you take care of her.

Exploring is addictive.. I am now under 1300 years away from civilization to show my friend how things work in space....thinking about my jorney back while game updates, is making me sad...

The update landed today, but I left already. None of it affects me really, though I'm glad to know about the heat changes.
One thing I wanted to see when I got back was the lights on the night-sides of inhabited planets. They were nice ;)

No you can't as far as I'm aware. What do you mean by "drop out into a binary star" situations? The only use heat sinks would be really, would be if you get too close to a star and then are trying to get back into SC but the star is too large/hot, drop a heatsink and you should make it out without cooking your ship
I've been in the situation when arriving at a star the smaller binary body was in my line of travel. I actually passed right through it before the hyperspace drop-out sequence finished and I got control. My heat immediately went into the "causing damage" area and all I could do was get away from the stars as fast as possible. The ability to launch a heat sink in supercruise might have reduced the amount of damage I took.
.
I've seen other posts from people who have not survived these "drop out into a binary twin" situations. Not nice when you die essentially by chance, particularly when out exploring distant star systems and potentially lose hours and hours of gameplay.

Touch wood, I haven't had the misfortune to drop into a situation like this. On my second, longer, journey out I'm managing to keep my Asp in better shape thank did the first time.

That's when it dawns on me; this star has a name, 17 Draconis, and there are 3 other stars in the system, along with 5 planets.
Named planets. Not 17 Draconis A or B, but names. Limbo, Eo, Icemir, Shepherd, and Paradiso.

Paradiso has a little grey symbol next to it. I sit, stunned. It's a station. "Paradiso Outpost."

If you'll find RAXXLA system with Cobra Mk4 and military lasers, please let us know ;)

Oh man. I recently re-read The Dark Wheel, from my original 1984 Spectrum copy of Elite, and I'd forgotten about Raxxla. I wonder if it has been hidden somewhere in the galaxy :)
