Patch Notes Update Wings Update 1.2.04 Incoming

Why did this change need to be made? It already seemed relatively low; it took me about 50 runs or palladium/PE with a faction before they even became friendly.

The change is about the % influence of the faction with regards to the system, not your personal reputation with them.

suggestion: added telemetry to see why people with great/good connections get absolutely abysmal upload speeds for updating? 0,01MB/s is not an acceptable speed if you crack out multiple updates a week people..

It's very likely that if you have 0,01MB/s speeds for the updates the "low speed" comes from your computer being busy writing to the disk or performing some other operations

To be fair, it's both good and bad. It's a shame that there was such patchy testing/ignoring of beta bug reports for 1.2. On the other hand, the recovery (from yet another major patch bugfest) has been relatively quick, good-natured and agile.

They can do amazingly well, and amazingly badly, it's confusing. The game is still hella fun, though.

Yeah I don't know why people moan so much, servers are only down for 30-45 minutes at a time. Surely everybody here must have experienced software with bugs that have persisted through multiple updates, some of them real show stoppers.

I'm impressed that FD manage to squash these problems so quickly, I think it shows some real programming talent and commitment.

• Claiming a bounty or combat bond for a faction should now affect Commanders' reputation

Hmm, was this already in last night, or has it only been broken under certain conditions? I turned in about 300K combat bonds and got from friendly to allied status with the faction. IIRC I didn't do anything else at the station.

Could also be an ISP issue since I update with 3.6 Mb/s from asia with no issue at all.

Yeah keep the update coming anyhow ... better than we all suffer with bugs for weeks on ends.

Not a mention about the most obvious and widespread bug to do with system map.

I'm normally quite optimistic, but a patch everyday for 4 days in a row says that you're not getting enough testing in the first place.
I'd suggest running beta for 2 weeks before each major update to get a better representation of scenarios that could cause issues.

Patience. If the bug you are referring to is having to exit and re-enter the map to register your correct location it's hardly game breaking. But enough people have been reporting it I'm sure it's on the radar.

Did you help test the Beta? What bugs did you report?

Suggestion:
In the System Map, one should be able to select Jump/SuperCruise targets! :) Please?
And why is there only one space station in orbit around planets? :p Never two more more:)

How's the new patch btw? Many MM/connection losses? I guess the systems doesn't have populated BB yet so i\m not going to play for a while until the dust settles...

Even more, the client connection speed-meter doesn't even seem to show the actual download speed rather than some data-transfer.
Yesterday I've saw a temporary DL speed of >200MB/s which is technically just impossible on my connection. :D

My guess is the launcher is reading files from disk at that point as it checks existing files are up to date. If you've ever used EA's Origin to install software you'll see the same behaviour.

Just made a million v 2 anaconda missions. The mission value itself and the bounty on them :)
Makes a nice break from trading

Hull down to 34% in my Python - the repair costs now drastically reduced I'm more than happy to do more of these missions (fuel costs don't bother me as cargo profit makes this irrelevant anyhow)

Micheal is there an easy way to add a filter to the galaxy map to color code systems

visited vs systems not visited? Also if there is a way to label how many times we

have been to certain systems

ISTR Michael previously saying that they don't currently store this data in a useable format or somesuch. I would try and find the post but the search system is rubbish. I voted yes anyway as I think it would be a popular addition.

Argghh ! horrible sound clipping here
I play with earphones and is unplayable :-(

uffff seems better now, got sound gliches and stuttering, (maybe, server side?)

Now after a Windows reset, the bugs are gone :)

Indeed. I've seen 28MB/s so 224mb/s but my DSL is connected at 5mb/s. It works on a sync basis so it only downloads the files that have changed and I think the calculation is still working during the file syncing parts rather than just the actual data transfer.

I'm pretty sure there was a statement from Michael or somebody ages ago saying this was going to be in 1.2 but it never materialised :-(
There seem to have been or two things that Michael said were coming which have not happened (yet), for example there was going to be an audible warning for "Safe Disengage Ready".

I don't think beta testing is some kind of privilege. It's just mind boggling how the entertainment industry has made an entire generation of people accept broken stuff by default.

By all means, some people think playing games in a beta-state is edgy and stuff, but seriously, I just need a game to work when I have time off to play.
If the game needs serious beta testing, revert to 1.1.06 and put 1.2 in a separate nightly-build or something for the people with special interests. Then release 1.2.xxx when it's stable. Then rinse and repeat for 1.2.3 or 1.3 or whichever was rumored to come before this weekend. (PowerPlay)

inb4 why don't you stop playing the game if you know it broken...

I'm getting the Validation Error on the data.ovx file, again :( If anyone could upload a working data.ovx (from Products\FORC-FDEV-D-1010\Win32 relative to your Launcher base directory) I'd be very grateful. Or if you know of another fix, please shout. Thank you.

EDIT: Don't bother. A kind soul sent me his/her data.ovx, but it didn't help.
