Some of us have slower connections and it takes a long time for updates to download. I must say that if there's one thing that will stop me from playing this great game it's all these constant bloody updates. Every time I go to play I have to wait an hour or so for an update to download. If FD don't start running monthly or fortnightly updates soon, that's it for me...but wait, oh yeah, they already have my money.

Thanks FD for a wonderful experience of waiting all the time

I'd like to suggest two new functions for the launcher:
1) Minimize to tray with autoupdate
2) Server status icon or message integrated

Hello Ed, that's a sweet minor update, I was waiting for this: gaining reputaion for bounties so its awesome. But yet, there's an issue while hyper-space is launching: sometimes the countdown isn't 5 seconds but 1 second, hope you'll check this out and fix this.

this sounds like a showstopper to me ...

Using outside (debug) cam while autodocking might lead to destruction of your ship..

Hi...ok so this is not a bug they say, but in opinion yes. The autodocking should NOT turn off while using the debug camera---

Yesterday I entered a starport with my Type 7 with autodocking running. So I thought it would be a good idea to see my ship and also show my curious son what it looked like.
When the outside cam started it, as often, is extremly zoomed in. When I zommed out, I saw that my ship had collided with a docking bay.
*no* I thought and re-entered my ship, where the HUD said I got a fine+that I needed to clear the bay. Which I tried to, but to late...
So I got shot down.
As I already had lost a full cargo just Days Before, I just had enough credits (like a couple of million) on this run to start rebuilding my credits, I had invested almost Everything in it...thus not having enough to cover the Insurance.
Yepp...I am back with that Sidewinder and 1000 Cr. In federation space, 100 Lightyears from where I was.
I would take it, if pirates shot me down (but I generally can escape), or something similar....
Yes, it says that the ship is vulnerable when watching through the outside cam, BUT I havent read anywhere why a set value, in this case the autodocking, should change when watching with the outside cam. Why should it get disabled?!
What is the reason? I mean, thats one Place where it is really nice to Watch your ship.
In safe surroundings, in a startport which is "green" and friendly.
But nope, not only did the autodocking stop to work, but my "friendly" station shot me down in an instant. NOT okay!
Not any kind of warning that the autodock stopped to function.
:-( NOT happy.

Other than that, great updates, this is Everything I wanted in -84 with the original Elite. Continue your great developent work...and BUG fixes.
In the original Elite you could meet these nasty aliens, I remember, are they in this universe too?

I have sent a support ticket on the camera...lets see if the support is as slow as everyone says :-/

LOL. I'm not laughing to be mean, but because I did exactly the same thing. I activated the debug camera to have a look at my Lakon 7 in the light of a station. I was so keen to try out the new feature I left my brain in neutral and got blown away with a full load of cargo for loitering. Luckily I had enough for insurance and learnt a very expensive lesson.

You always get a warning that you lose control of your ship whenever you use your outdoor cam but no word that this also goes for the docking computer. There should be a special warning regarding docking computers, at least when running into such a situation. Or alternatively make the DC doing his job regardless of an active outdoor cam (why not?). Basic things like these should never be learned from external sources like forum or wiki rather from ingame messages instead. Anything else is bad game design (or, in favor to FD, a simple overlook).

Exactly my Point, Picommander, thx for the short version :)
Plus, the warning is that the ship will still be vulnerable (which is fine)- not that some of the basic internal automatic things, things such as the docking computer, will terminate.
Maybe the HUD warning messages should show up "you are under attack" "warning for loitering" "docking computer disengaged" and things like that.

Ha ha (in all friendliness) Steve23094, nice to hear that I am not the only one liking the debug camera, thx for sharing, it was a good one :) Good that you had Insurance, at least.

And the issue with the system map showing the previous system until you exit and go back in?
The first time this happened, I thought I had imagined it or simply done something wrong. It's happened a few more times since then, though.

It's a little annoying when I'm trying to get a quick peek at the System Map while in SC.

Since this patch:

EVERY time I approach a station at 75% speed in SC, it gets to the point where there's a small lag spike, I presume when data for the station is being uploaded to me, then the ship starts to speed up and ultimately overshoots. It doesn't respond at all to the throttle and even moving it down to zero does nothing at all. The ONLY way to make it slow down is to fly up or down. It's really frustrating when you're flying a ship that has all the agility of a wet house brick.

This only used to happen before if I didn't slow down from 100% to 75% at around 175Ls at the latest. Now it's happening all the time.

Why is this update patching so slow. I have a fast 100MB download speed and can patch most games in a few minutes. This latest patch says it is going to take hours! Patching at .23mbs - are you kidding me? Come on Frontier and upgrade your servers for patching.

I started my upgrading 3 hours ago. If the bar is accurate I am about 5% done.

I have a fiber-optic connection with a 35 Mb/s download speed. I don't think it's me.

It's ridiculous that it should take this long. Reminds me of dial-up back in the day with 56k connection. It's the 21st century and I have to wonder what kind of set-up Frontier has for patching.

It always have been working that way. Close in to station too fast and gravity well will boost your speed and you will overshoot. Micropause near stations indeed happen now and then and you are mostly right about sending updates.

As for downloads - FD recently tried alternative launcher for downloads, but we haven't hear anything regarding that test. By sound of it, for me it sounds like strange throttling going on Amazon servers, because people have very different downloading experiences (while doing it at same time).
