landing on planet using Fixture

Devs we can use Orbital Mooring Fixtures like in Freelancer to land on planets

Please, it would be perfect if there wasn't a loading screen between space and planet...if no man's sky can do it then ED certainly can.

There's no need to do that. You could just supercruise "into the clouds" and enter atmosphere, simple as that.
EDIT:
I would love to see lots of other great stuff from Freelancer implemented in Elite, though.. That game had some great features.

I'm looking forward to carefully balance my speed and descent rate and placing mining probes on remote moons like in Frontier.

If I am taking the time to land on a planet I am not F'ing landing in an area that's full of clouds and most likely raining.

That's like getting on a plane for Hawaii and ending up in Inverness.

Lets NOT do planetary landings like Freelancer (or SC for that matter).

Instead, let's do planetary landings like in Elite 2 and 3. Seamless, with the player in control at all times. Thank you :)

You will do if that is where the planetside starport with the rare goods resides. :D

Freelancer was a fun game, for sure, but its planet landings... nah, bro. =P We can do better.

I'm surprised nobody talks about the Evochron series... I thought it did planet landings pretty dang well, if not much else. It even got the gradual transition between atmospheric and orbital flight pretty much down. There was even stuff to DO on planets. If we're gonna take notes from something that isn't an older Elite game, maybe it should be Evochron.

This is all you need:

And of course, an engine that supports seamless transition to and from planetary flight. Frontier's done this before, they can do it again.

*This*

But lets impliment / fix all the other asects of the game first too.

If you want to see how landings and travel in general should look and behave, look at space engine.

I played Freelancer and it was never EF II. It always felt small to me. Maybe that was because I had played EF II back it the day and so knew what a real space sim was meant to be. Freelancer was only ever a short play gaame to me but I'd still be playing EF II if ED hadn't arrive. Yes you could still play EF II using emulators such as Dosbox. I did love the visuals of Freelancer they were great and I would love to see some of that candy in ED's shopfront, that would be great. Still FD have brought the game a long way and I'm sure they will make it better given the time. As for landings we should have it in line with Elite lore, Atmospheric shielding requirements and a smooth player controlled descent to the target landing port. :)

They're going to have to do something about friction and heat. If they were to suddely add it tomorrow, most would overheat and explode on re-entry with the current heat mechanic. Though that'd give even more reason to carry multiple heat sink launchers. ;)
