How many of you stand up and stick your head out the window?

Isn't it the most awesome thing ever? An intimate kiss with space. If you have a mute button, hit it as your head leaves the cockpit and enter outer space and just look around. Nothing more relaxing, stress reducing, peaceful, awe-inspiring. Nothing.

Only works in ships like the sidewinder but still. Wow. So glad Frontier didn't put a range-of-movement lock on it.

i stood up on my chair in the T7 to find out what was behind the benches at the back on the left and right. facing back the 1 on the right was the commodities computer and the 1 on the left was the ship upgrade and repair computer.

Try standing up and walking around underneath the ship in the Outfitting screens. Gives the most amazing impression of just how big the ships are.

Yep. Showed loads of people this at the EGX last September.

Great fun!

You can see the sides of the Python, if you stand up and lean towards the side window. The Anaconda has a lift behind the pilot with a doormat marked "Bridge".
(see concept art below) I haven't figured how to get ShadowPlay to work with DK2.

Shadowplay works fine for me. You just have to remember that shadowplay is going to record your primary monitor. So just set the rift to be the primary monitor and you should be good to go.

im gonna make an extension cable for my OR this weekend and see how it works out. Oculus has said that it's not recomended due to latency problems, but what the hey..I prolly have the spare cables lyin' around here somewhere.

you'll need the extended cables for, HDMI, earphone/ mic extension for the tracking plug and a usb extension.

Did you try this? Did it work? I want to extend the range. I'm seriously thinking of getting that Elite Tracker community project thing...

Anyway, latest thing I've done is park up next to a gorgeous ice planet 3x the size of earth in my Asp, roll so it's to the side, stand up and walk to the window and look out. Nice!

Also, didn't know that that side panel says "Warning, gets very hot during flight" or something. Love ittttttt

haha looking at the outside of the sidewinder is pretty sweet!

i found when i turned off shadows it brightened everything up nice and so much more clear for the dk2!

i often find myself getting in real close to those police ships npc and having a look see at the details

the game is ridiculously detailed in places you wouldnt think

It works, but you need a high quality / speed (low loss) active HDMI extension cable. Something like that:

Thanks. This, and the EDTracker are my next purchases. I want to just be able to get up and walk around, and I have the space to do so.

Please, can you tell me how to walk around?

Everytime i stand up my VR-Me keeps sitting in his chair, i can look around in my ship, but cant actually move towards things (i.e. windows)

thanks

For some reason the rear of the cockpit in the T7 reminds me of this Nostromo bridge angle:

You are playing with a DK2? If so what have you done with the IR HMD Camera? That's the device that enables what you're lacking.

Yay alien ftw

TIP: (if it hasn't been said already) squat.,kneel, bend, lower or otherwise adjust your head position in the opposite direction you wish to gain a positional advantage in and hit reset.

For example: If I squat down and hit reset, I'll have gained a height advantage when I stand back up equal to the distance my head was lowered prior to hitting reset. Same thing works for left/right. Another example; turn your head left 90 degrees and hit reset (center) view and then turn your head to the normal forward position, you'll have turned to the right 90 degrees. This works great for looking around without having to twist your head like an owl or stand on a ladder.
