Speaking & Sending in game messages, no keyboard needed.

Hi guys, found something great i wanted to share, i have been looking into this for a few days,, ever since i saw in that voice attack had a new Dictation command now built in.
So things were discussed here : https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=120497&p=2229866&highlight=#post2229866

But i thought this proof of working functionality deserves a new thread.
Using only Voice Attack, (latest beta, with dictation commands,) i can now do this, no keyboard required, and very, very fast.
Early days yet, but i can now have seperate commands to send to wing ect in VA, (by adding a few key commands) and speech is a bit flakey to be recognised, (especially with my yorkshire accent) but basic messages work ok.

Looks nice. But is it really that precise with anyones voice? It must be worse than autocorrect for sending out nonsense sometimes.

Well i certainly don't have the best voice, in fact i hate my yorkshire accent, and most people online struggle to understand me, so i guess i am a good tester for this, if it works for me, well should work for most. I did train my voice 6-7 times in windows 10, (yes i am using the new windows insider program, which seems better for speech ect)
As you can see, i had to be careful as some things would not be recognised, but i will soon know what is ok or not to use. But did you see how fast this was compared to open coms and typing. And i would imagine most short messages will work.

I've not tried this new feature but i have to say I've been incredibly impressed with the accuracy of the Windows voice recognition that VA uses. I use it all the time and it's very accurate indeed.

I'll have to look into this. I find using the keyboard so immersion breaking anything that reduces my need of it has got to be good.

Its quick, but for me the main use would be keeping eyes on a fight and sending the message same time. Going to look into this ^^.

yes, exactly what it is useful for, in a fight sending short messages, without taking your eyes of the fight.

only used 2 commands to do that video. here is what they look like to give you an idea.
I had to use a couple of clear buffers in the right place, to stop short letters appearing before the message, you will need to play around with this to get it working ok.
I also had to use a couple of "esc" keys after the message was sent, to close the coms.

by putting these simple key press commands in just after the 2 key press, i should be able to create commands like "send message to wing" or "send message to target" and "reply to last message" "send local message"

/r to respond to the last ship that you received comms from
/t to send comms directly to targeted ship
/w to send comms to all wingmen
edit:
/l for local channel

Ha, brilliant! I'm gonna order a headset, and that'll probably be the first thing I'll download. Thanks for the tip.
Anyone else think that voice sounds like Leonard Nimoy btw?

Thanks for this, been looking for something like that for a while !

I can and will recreate it,
but my lazy side is prompting me to point out that it would be really nice,
for other lazy CMDR's like me, and for the ones less comfortable with VA "programming",
If you could export and post those already made command in a nice .vap files :)

EDIT UPDATE

Just look at these https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showth...=1#post2236157 you'll see all the commands, if the export shows as "can't execute command missing"

ie: The first command is Execute command, 'Comms open;Open comms;Open comms panel;Comms panel on' (and wait until it completes)

Cool, Thanks !

Just took a quick look, I'll play with it later.
Had time to notice that Local channel, respond too commander, ship too ship and wing cast
are all missing their first command.
A random sound ?

That is what happens when you export a profile (or even part of a profile) and not "all of the logic" is present. Even a category export (which I know you have been requesting) will not avoid this issue if the commands needed are spread across several other categories.
