News Powerplay Beta Date Update

As today is the original Beta release slot, it would be nice if FD could give us an update on when it's likely to drop. It's a Bank Holiday weekend coming, so unless we see the Beta very soon (today/tomorrow) then I can't see them releasing a first view of it until the full week 'delay' (ie next Tuesday).

An update would be nice, even if it's going to be another week.. Michael?

I would not expect the next Beta until Wednesday 27th at the earliest, with the full release pushed into June.

Anything before that would be a nice surprise, but I'm not holding my breath.

Yep, that's the way I read it, too. They'd planned to release the Beta today but had to push it back a week.

Can anyone recall whether the release of the last big beta (Wings) affected the live server and/or forced a client update for non-beta gameplay. It's just I'm planning a major Elite session next Thursday and want to know how tightly I need to cross my fingers that this won't conincide

You shouldn't see any difference. When you might see some is after it's actually got released.

The beta is a separate version of the full game and on a different server. It generally doesn't affect your normal install.

I'd say early/mid june? I dont really know, 1.1 & 1.2 took a week each after beta started, 1.3 might take more or it could also be a single week.
So maybe in about 2 weeks ^^.

For me what the logical minor update will be after powerplay patch 1.4 in august 2015. with the minor choice of male/female characters.
And that players can meet and talk in space stations in a bar or space lobby so that faction will be come something that will live and talk about by the community ingame.

We can already choose male/female though this has very little consequence.

Walking around ships or stations is for expansions, It wont come in a free update such as 1.X.

And we dont know yet when 1.4 will arrive.

Walking around ships at least would feel weird as a paid dlc since it theorticly could bring boarding ships and that would get awkward with other players if one person has the ablity and the other doesn't.

Not if those players cant be matched together in a same instance.
And it is a paid expansion, no doubt about it.
