I love this idea of the code. They are the type I like to hit on simply by morality need. Where can I find them? Still in Diso?

Some of our guys have been patrolling Diso for the last week, No code have been sighted in the last few days.
They may have gone solo to avoid continually getting thrashed by our security team :)

Read on their forum they stick close to the rare trade route. As soon as i find one of their team i'll wreck them. Wish i encounter some conda so they lose enough credit to have them consider switching to solo.

How many CMDR's are there? 400,000 pre-Steam launch, did Steam double that number? Lets just say 600,000 just for fun. If you take any random population of 600,000 humans from planet Earth, how many of those would be psychos? At least a few hundred, right?

I have never experienced anything other than a 15t request of goods from CODE members, although I'm a fighter, not a trader, so my personal experience with hefty cargo is limited, except for the occasional rare loop. I've even been interdicted by CODE pirates with a T-6 full of biowaste in Leesti, they let me go unscathed, a quick convo of "?", and no problems.

I'm of the opinion that the CODE pirates make going up to Leesti/Lave/Diso so much more fun than it would be otherwise, kind of makes me wonder why people play solo? I guess to be 'safe'? I play games for danger!

To me, CODE = content creation by the players. And I'm mos def NOT a pirate by any stretch of the roleplay imagination.

Well the only thing I dislike is the many comment we can read about them interdicting and killing without requesting cargo. If they do request cargo and then let go, or fight if someone doesn't want to give some, that's only more fun to the game.

in this case the roll play = justified griefing. 'lets wing and pick on traders because we havnt got the skills to fight anyone els'

Fear of crime is greater than it's incidence, whilst I accept that this happens, I doubt it is as prevalent as some believe.

We have some of the best pvp'ers in the game. We haven't been able to do much actual pirating for about three months because of constant running war with several other pvp groups, now at an end while we wait to see what 1.3 brings. Watch the youtube videos showing s7, Fanatics and ASneakyninja, for examples.

Caught in a Loop .
who are Code ?
Do the Leaders of the Group publish a list of ALL active members of their brotherhood / fraternity / dastardly whacky racers :)
I have been stopped in Zaonce / Lave and have no idea if it was by Code or some other group , or just an independent Solo pirate.
the real problem is that the game has no options for group affiliations to be displayed in comms or scans
as things stand , anyone can say they are Code Pirates ...
and Code pirates (when not being supervised by their leaders) can act outside the Code
maybe 1.3 will change or at least Alleviate that .. but even if there is a Main Pirate Power / faction for pirates to Join & support .. we still end up with ALL pirates Lumped together .. and no real way to distinguish between them.
looks like we will be dealing with The Good , The Bad & The Down Right Ugly for a little while yet.
it would be a real ++++ to the game if Group Name could somehow be displayed in scan info
although it is proly to much to ask or expect it also in comms chatter ..
e.g CMDR "No Name" (code) Stop Engines , & Prepare for Scan ... you will not be attacked if you comply
e.g CMDR "Comic" (code impersonators) Die trader die .. hehehehehe .....
:)
I really don't understand the pirate thing .. seems like a lot of time & effort for minimal gain & reward ..
but at the same time , I accept that it is a valid part of open play &
I respect peoples right to chose to spend their game time doing it .. just wish the game allowed for better identifications of Affiliations

Pretty much one of the reasons why I don't play in Open. If I wanted to, I can claim to be from CODE and go ram people and tarnish their reputations. Any 'pirate' can claim that they're from CODE with no means of verifying that information in-game.

Thats why Code members want video evidence so the can make sure it is actually one of their members...

I'll second this, fought against some Code members a few times, they know how to fight and when/if to run (as any skilled pilot should.) Never had any dirty tactics fighting them (eg: wing shield regen) sometimes the numbers have been in our favour, sometimes there's, but it's always entertaining. That's my experience anyway. I know pirates these days have quick trigger fingers but that's mainly due to facing combat loggers.

I wonder if some people complaining on the forum seem to think pirate/psycho automatically equals CODE and just whine about CODE even though the person who blew them up may not have mentioned CODE.

Simply let them act dumb. That way I feel good taking a few of their ship down. No remorse. Plus it add some challenges as npc are boring as hell.

pvp claims are just that. With no leader boards or ladders. tbh with the state of the game its been in since beta, saying your 1 of the best pvp'ers in E.D is like saying you're the best at ironing and folding clothes.
I dont watch youtube videos of people playing elite. i can hardly stay awake in a CZ in open.

if you say your fighting pvp wars on multiple fronts then why would you even bother attacking traders that hardly even fight back?

come on , be serious .. how many casual gamers or even hard core gamers , have the tech ability or the computer spec . to be able to get video evidence , especially in stressful / fast moving situations.
....
am using a 970gtx , 16gb system ram , ssd drive for storage .. & that's about all I know .. yeah the gtx can handle vid capture real easy ... one of these DAYS I will have to spend a WEEK working out how lol

but at the same time, couldn't CODE also deny it even if it's true? What if said player decided to go ahead and wipe their save?

From what I have seen the members who post here seem pretty honest. Plus it is in their best interest to make sure their members follow their code otherwise they will get less respect than they do now..

I'm not sure how easy it is to video your games, I know some players do it but I'm not that tech savvy. I do understand their reasoning though, every time someone gets griefed, killed they automatically blame Code.

It is also easy for players to say they are with Code even if they are not. How can you prove it.

If FD are going to encourage coordinated groups they really need to have some way for their member to be identified in game. Not sure why this isn't already available..

They have a choice right now - wipe and start a new commander with some kind of marker in their name, or live with the drama that ensues from people claiming it's one group when it's not.

Seen it many times in movies - Kill a gang member in a particular manner using signature moves from another and voila - turf war starts :D
