Newcomer / Intro If I want to focus on combat...question about ships!

Im currently piloting my viper and I lov eit..but im honestly tempted to trade it in for one of the new diamonbacks...

I know there are two right now..the scout and the explorer..neither of which names yell "this is for fighting!" but I keep hearing that one of these two is a nice upgrade to get over the viper...

any insight?

The Diamondback Explorer hardpoint locations are good but is not manoeuvrable so is no fighter.
Not tried the Diamondback Scout or Courier yet.
Vulture is a great fighter with excellent hardpoint locations and shields but tiny fuel tank and short jump range. It is also relatively slow but and excellent fighter.

DBE can be a beast. Well powered and that Large will raise an eyebrow after flying a Viper. However, compared to proper fighters it will feel like a bit of a pig.
Not tried the DBS, it just seems a bad version of similar ships (Unlike the Courier, which is a bad version of ALL ships)

If you are focussed on Combat and have the funds, then a Vulture should be on your radar. Stepping up to the Vulture after having a Viper is just amazing - get yourself some nice big C3 Pulse Lasers and wreak havok. The weapon placement over the Viper is superb along with the the Vultures excellent maneuverability.

A Vulture is going to eat any Diamondback or Courier for breakfast - hands down!

Undoubtedly, but Vulture is more than double the cost of a DBE.
Selling the DBE will only cost 200k when its time for the Vulture, and I would normally recommend a DBE as a step up, but hard core fighter jocks may not be able to get over the low turn speed.

I heard that the Imp Courier is alot better than the DBS.

The DBS is good but I now use it as a travelling ship to reach other parked combat ships or stake out an area.
If I get a little trouble on the way I have decent fight or flight options.

I fly viper alot and the DBS just doesn't cut it for me.
I am keeping my DBS but it has only convinced me to get a vulture for combat next.

I'm stilling giving it a chance, too early to right it off yet. It does fly well and it's price point is really good.
