Gratuitous Selfie Thread

Not a true selfie per se but just wanted to share my first earth like. Even considered dropping from rift to get a good shot but there will be more I hope :)

Saw this last night on the Sys Map, thought it was a gas giant.

A little surprised when I saw what was waiting for me; hadn't seen a baby T before.

Sitting and staring in wonder at a class Y brown dwarf "star"....so cool at ~700K that it's barely a star at all...surrounded by two pristine metallic rings.

Absolutely amazing.

Hey be careful around those. I got knocked out of SC trying to set up the perfect shot down close by the rings. Anyway, it wound up yielding a different looking shot out of SC.

Why is it so blue? o_O

It's inside a nebula, NGC something-or-other, can't remember the number.

The system is CD-26 1339, it's only about 1000ly out, and quite pretty.

I think it might need a 30+ jump to get there, I couldn't reach it in my Hauler when I was down there first time, which is why I went back in the Diamondback.

Fly safe

Sounds like it might be NGC 7822 - that has a bunch of bright type O's that look like a diamond necklace in the sky (I call it Lucy's Necklace, after Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds). That is tricky to get to (I failed too) and requires over 25 jump range.

No, it's NGC 1360 (just been in and looked). It's only got the one system, with its O-class star, black hole, a class A and a bunch of assorted dwarfs (more than 7 though).

Presumably it's a remnant blown off by the collapse which formed the black hole.

Star Trek called them Demon Class planets... really does seem kind of appropriate:

I got all Arthur C Clark on this one... sunrise glinting off the ship over a Demon Class planet
