Today is the dev update

Personally, I am not that bothered about the Thargoids. If they just represent a tougher AI enemy that occasionally delivers Oh Sugar moments as in previous games, what will they really add? A procedural, multi-branched mission generator that creates content as varied as the star systems created by Stellar Forge, a pass over exploration or bounty hunting that adds an order of magnitude more depth, more detailed and varied ambient system traffic or the addition of passenger missions or more NPC persistence would be more interesting to me.

Of course, I would not complain if the Thargoids were manifested as an alien faction that we can interact with beyond on the wavelength of a laser weapon (default to hostile, defend some essential resource, eventually begin smuggling then trading it to them), or as a BSG-style enemy-within reboot. Imagine if Denton Patreus started rewarding transports of Small Furry Rodents to his systems, and is then unmasked as a gerbil-gobbling insectoid analogously to the baddies in the 80s series 'V'.

I hope the dev update is that they're refactoring the trade mechanic so that it's actually a risky job to take up and thus warranting the vast amount of income that can be made doing it.

Also, that they're getting rid of RNG instancing and instead implementing a responsive instancing mechanic based on the local system and the initiating cmdr behavior and skill ranking in that instance.

dev updates and news letters are on the new community site rather than as forum posts. I believe that started when 1.3 dropped. so keep refreshing there.

The game has been irremediably broken with PP introduction. Competitors products could be better; keep eyes open
PS: Is cqc the last shot of a dying project?

Dooom.... dooooooooom. DOOOOOM.
hasn't made a jot of difference to me, still having a whale of a time out there. Haven't aligned with pp faction.... maintaining my independence.

No idea how cqc makes any difference whatsoever.

A very special update from Michael Brookes today! Any one have any thoughts on it?

That's an irony? :)

Hyperbole much? :) Also which competitor products? NMS is single player minecraft in space (with Dark Souls like MP dropped in).

What would have been jaw dropping in the announcement, that FD has finished the inhouse testing of the Planet Landings, and FPS features and will be implementing as promised soon.
