So you really want to tell me that the AI is a real threat? Maybe if they come in numbers or you dare to attack a station. What else threatens you in Solo?
I know that instancing and timezones would lead to restrictions on who I would meet but this is just limited technically. Look at the possibilities of the Arma franchise. Big open world with a lot more then just 32 players. And it is not just that the people don't play the way I want. Fdev has castrated the game and the possible events with this bypass just please people like you who else wanted to boycott it.

Who said I ever wanted to boycott it? And you do realize that for people NOT you.. NPCs can and are a challenge not everyone is in top of the line craft and so uber with their HOTAS that they can ignore NPCs and have more fun shooting defenseless PC traders.

I think that characterizing those that offer an opinion that differs yours as whining is a bit hostile. Maybe you should try toning it down.

Not everyone cares for the direction the game has taken and as consumers who purchased the game I think they should be allowed to voice their opinion without fear of being characterized as jerks, whiners, PK'ers or griefers.

Many people enjoy competition and would like to see some sort of meaningful PvP competition in Elite. They are unhappy about the current state of the game. That doesn't make them bad people.

In truth I don't object to people having a different opinion, don't object to people playing in open, or even PVPing. But as soon as someone come out with "solo is cheating"(like I saw few pages back), or "YOu have no risk or consequences" (as in the post I was replying too) type talk comes out then yeah.. at that point... it is whining. Especially since it has already been proven that both "arguments" are nothing but hogwash.

Some people thought they were getting a PvP game. Clearly that is not the case. It looks more like a large scale PvE co-op game at this point.

So to a person that is seeking human competition, the argument that people are avoiding consequences make sense.

Its not whining, its confusion. They think the game is a PvP game when it isn't. Its PvE.

They're being quite specifically catered to with CQC, at the expense of what many of us think of as 'the REAL Elite', and they're still complaining. No, it doesn't make them bad people, just as self-centred as teenaged tornadoes on meth.

That is like me buying World of Warcraft and complaining that it isn't a single player game and needs to be fixed.. I would be an absolute idiot and whiner if I did that.

In short, you want to perform hostile actions without having to face the consequences. It is sad that you can bypass this.

If by "without having to face the consequences" you mean without ever being forced into PvP, yes. Now and always, in each and every game I play. I'm done with non-consensual PvP for the rest of my life, I don't even give games that feature it a try.

If Frontier hadn't promised, from the start, that players would be able to freely choose who they play with, I would never have gotten this game.

Look at Witcher 3, big open world and single player. Skyrim, big open world and also single player. We can compare games that are different all day.

You have access to every content, you can make the same impact which every individual can make.

As do you and so can you. This may comes as a surprise but we all have exactly the same version of the same game. Whatever we have access to, you also have access to.

The current state of the game, with regards to modes and mode switching, is the same state of the game as when they bought it. Buyer beware.

I went up against an Elite Anaconda NPC the other day and had to do a runner. Whilst my vulture normally has no problems with single NPC's, that one gave me a beating!

Oh look another you face no threat from the AI, come to open where you face threat from people like me who shoot you down and kill you post..

No threat from AI? Bull
No risk in solo/Group Bull
Whining because people they cannot see are effecting the system... Ding Ding Ding we have a winner!

No matter that can't see everyone in open, no matter that They have the same ability in open to effect pp that everyone else have, no matter that there is no proof that there is no way to tell were someone is who's effecting the system unless by chance matchmaker matches you up.. throw a temper tantrum that people are playing in ways you don't like.

You can kill standard Anaconda's with a sidewinder with 2 fixed weapons.

You can kill elite Anaconda's by equipping one single module on a utility hardpoint.

In CZ and RES, you have 20000 allies helping you fight the enemies.

You can win every interdiction unless your flying a Type9. And anything else can just FSD away.

The only chacne of dieing is in the high level USS, but nobody goes there because they are entirely USELESS.

I agree with the guy you are replying too, there is no threat from AI and there is NO Risk in solo/group.

--- Now my additional thoughts

I'm not one for force into open, but a divide between solo/private and open. Or a second galaxy with open only i am totally for.

I often go to Strong Signal Sources in Solo. They are there to offer a challenge. You like a challenge right? That's why you play Open and not "easy" Solo. I don't understand why you don't try them. Seems to me you are playing in easy mode if you don't.

How do you do. I had three anacondas the other day and thought better of it.

Very badly. :D I never win, obviously, sometimes I don't even manage to run away in time. I find the pack of Vultures usually kill me quicker than the Anacondas. I once killed one of the 'Conda pack before the others finished me off but I'd got a little lucky and it put me in a position that I couldn't escape from. :)

I haven't tried it since the AI upgrade either (I rarely play any more) I expect it's a suicide button now. :)

One Idea:

count the actions of solo-Players just the half.

Merits and Credits count just 50%... For example.

If they want to live stressless in this Galaxy ,they have to Pay the Price.

You want to live in a galaxy with other players, you have to pay that price. That price is other players getting in your way. If FD have stated, time and again, that there is no right way to play why would they reward one less or more than the other?

I dropped in on something where a load of gold was floating around - then a blob of ships appeared and the AI smack talk started just as my FSD got me out of there.

In short, you want to perform hostile actions without having to face the consequences. It is sad that you can bypass this.

Frontier have decided that all players in all game modes and on all platforms will share the same galaxy state. There are players who accept this fact and players that don't.

Not everyone cares for the direction the game has taken and as consumers who purchased the game I think they should be allowed to voice their opinion without fear of being characterized as jerks, whiners, PK'ers or griefers.

The direction of the game has not changed - it is consistent with the stated game design first published in the Kickstarter pitch over two and a half years ago.

The current state of the game, with regards to modes and mode switching, is the same state of the game as when they bought it. Buyer beware.

Exactly.

If they want to live stressless in this Galaxy ,they have to Pay the Price.

Again with the "NPCs are no challenge" trope.... We are all told to "play the game how you want to" not "play the game how others want you to". If players want to be content for other players then they can choose to do so when they select which game mode to play in for that session - no-one is forced to play in any of the game modes.

The first time I met the Vulture pack I was winged up and we were chatting away so I wasn't really paying attention (we were looking for UAs). I was dead before I realised what had happened but at least my wingman (wingwoman?) escaped. :)

I dont want to re-start the discussion for closed/group/open play.

The Powerplay takes count also from solo or group mode.
The effects can be everywhere, but if you want to alter a power it should be restricted to open.
In Solo- or group-mode you can farm and trade merits, support expansions without anybody can do something against.
Its like the Soloplayer can cheat down the open-Players.
No strategie, no roleplay - only the amount of merits traded are counting !

If restricted to open only the player think twice if and how he supports a power.
Merchants will order a wing support for safety, might a player'police' will make the mainsystems safe or help to underrun the enemys systems !
Uncountable new possibilitys of gameplay ...

Powerplay got to restricted to open only!

Signed!!!
