At least this would have been a different shape and nostalgic.

Hmm, very intellectual, philosophical.
But does it matter when your being shot at, your shields are being stripped and your hull is being dismantled?:(
All done in the most artistic, elegant manner of course.:)

Does any opinion about any ship matter in that case?

That looks more like an Asp.

Put simply:

The '3 was a classic.

IRL, it's almost impossible to improve on a classic.

Wait till people get behind the 'wheel (so to speak)

maybe I need to see more angles, and I'm probably on the minority on this, but I don't like how it looks. Too blocky with unnecessary trim on it. I don't mean to disparage the effort or talents of the folks behind it; I just don't like how it looks. Kind of a bummer to me but c'est la vie. I was hoping for either a larger version of the Mark 3, largely intact with one or two modest but noticeable changes, or a rethink on the model with sleeker lines, maybe some curves. This feels a bit too much like Need for Speed Underground to me. Ah well.

I think his point was that rather than looking like a better MKIII design for the MKIV, it looked more like an Asp... which the MKI kinda does.

Will be interested in seeing what the MKIV has to offer. My guess, due to weapons and size: more cargo, better fighter, slower, lower jump range.

It won't be the fastest game in the ship like the MKIII and therefore you won't be able to escape from trouble with a couple of boosts like the MKIII. But if you're the type to fight to the bitter end, it'll be more up your alley. Jump range will be just fine in-bubble but no longer a real option for those wanting to explore and consider jump range a priority.

Doesn't surprise me it's similar. If they add too many different hull configurations any chance of adding interiors at a later day is going to have an exponentially increasing amount of development time.

It already takes them months to complete some of the ships, guessing this is not only the asset design but testing and balancing them into the game mechanics. I can imagine Frontier are quite nervous about the interior expansion if it ever appears.

...and can someone explain to me how you get this in the game? Am I right it's an optional (real money) purchase? Or is there more to it than that?

I'd love to know what is balanced downwards to make up for the extra h-point, but I'll have to wait for someone from Beta to give the info.

You will have to purchase it in game (to avoid P2W) but the buy option is only available if you are an existing player and purchase the Horizons upgrade with the discount, or you have a lifetime expansion pass including Alpha/Prem Beta

Ahhh! So I've mis-understood! You buy it within the game with CRs just like any other ship? But it's only available to people who've come (to Horizons) via/from "original ED"...?

Yes. My hope is, however, that it's not available on the buy screen to those who can't get it with the purchase option blanked out. Otherwise there will be demands to be able to get access somehow and if they cave on that we're back to PTW slippery slope. Just make it so it doesn't even show up on the shipyards of those who can't get it.

Marry, kiss, avoid?

Avoid! :p

Just kidding, it may be a bit ungainly looking with those boxy ends and boy racer bodykit but it's all about the numbers (and sound) for me - after all, you can't see it when you're in it! ;)
