No we didn't.
But you should really take a look at the video I'm screaming about all day ;)
You should be able to reproduce the same situation very easily, with the help of other three volunteers.
It'd be nice to know what those CMDRs in the video where carrying in their holds, btw.

I also think that the ships' mass could be important as well.

Second video, small one:

Hi, Other than Limpet Drones my hold was empty................

Okay so every time it roars it lights up
We have seen it in the dark now.
It seems like it is powering up/turning on when it is doing so.

Powering up to send out a signal maybe?

What could we do to figure out the signal.
We have tried putting it next to things to see if there is a reaction, but no dice so far.
Have we had someone next to it looking at the galaxy map in case when it roars it pings something on the Galaxy map?
It knows where it is based on the morse code, might it then use its location to provide directions?

I would not rely on the Galaxy Map, it isnt dynamic enough to react to changes. Use the Navigation tab

Alternative theory, the roar and glow it it gathering energy, but the radiation/toxic damage and blue glow is indicative of damage and it is unable to power up/charge up fully.

However I cannot think of a way to transfer energy to the UA without damaging it.

This may be old ground covered before but I am just brain storming

The goal of the UA is to organically create a faction in game that is focused solely on scientific progression and contact with the Thargoids.

We are going to be the bad guys of the game one day.
Only if the Thargoids lose...

I'm not sure it's the Thargoids that are the bad guys. This is why it's important the Canonn make "first" contact. =p

Guys.....................the Oresrians believed in indivuals being weak while groups of people are stronge........................the tests where the UA has changed the purrs we had more than 1 ship, with my tests they've been kinda weird as nilreb has backed off during them so it's only me but......Slepnir was 3 ish ships that were close to the UA constantly.......that was happening with Delmonte's test which had a purr change as well.....do you think maybe..................? We need lots of players near the UA at once? Sidewinder party?

The human race has always been the aggressors

Operation Cerberus:

The Dark Wheel/ CEIP does not seem to care to much for Thargoids. Lots of old INRA guys in there probably.
That is why they started Operation Cerberus.

- Using captured Thargoid tech. they made the UA. A device that is intended as the tool for the second and final Thargoid Genecide.
- The UA is based one the functionality of a bacteriophag.
The phag has only one funcktion. It seeks out a specific host (a bacteria) and injects the content of it's head into the host.
In the host it multiplies making countles copies of itself, destroying the host in the process.
The perfect tool for destroying orcanic Thargoid technology that is vccinated against Mycoid.

- Dark Wheel/ CEIP drop these in stratgic locations and hope some Thargs will come close.

- By a bit of bad luck, the feds and others have found UAs, but don't know what it is.

- By another bit of bad luck Sirius Corporation has also experimented with Tharg tech. for their new FDS models. One of these were put on SS1 and it got destroyed by an UA.

- To draw attention away from the real function of the UA, Dark Wheel/ CEIP make a phage looking virus that attacs humans. Real phages only attac bacteria. The virus is designed to have a simple cure so it can be stoped at any time.

A little fairy tale (no whales) to make us think a bit. It's not the answer. More an example on hove the story could have been made.

What is big enough to trigger the UAs scanner and can act as a host for the UA to multiply?

Wasnt there a large number gathering with the first finds?
There were quite a number when RedWizzard got his

Not saying dont try it, though

Just checked this file and its short ? Will try to edit and reload tonight.... Sorry for any confusion

Thanks for your recording efforts cmdr!

There is a wiki page dedicated to collecting sounds and videos of the UA, http://elite-dangerous.wikia.com/wiki/Unknown_Artefact/List_of_recordings, and this might be 'the one place' you were looking for, it would be awesome if you could link your recordings there.

The problem with Dropbox (and twitch) is that it's not cross platform, I.e. you can't watch on mobile, android, Linux etc especially now that Flash is finally being phased out of existence (hooray). e.g. I can't download dropboxed files to my nexus, and I can't watch twitch without an app, which is useless for searching. YouTube is the place to go these days, everyone can see it, so thanks again.

Not in close proximity to it though as when you look at the video people are using the debug camera which can stretch out a bit which I think is about 60 metres in total and the ships around the UA in that video (my opnion) seemed to be futher away than debug camera range.

UA occurence map.

Green = Confirmed UA recovery spots.
Blue = Unconfirmed
Red = Sol.

Center of mass with confirmed spots only: {17.3368, -16.9271, 4.04167}
Center of mass with confirmed and unconfirmed: {11.9375, -8.03606, -9.75481}

Finally!
Absolutely, we must: I've asked it all day yesterday ;)
4 CMDRs very close to the UA. There was someone asking for 12, and I agree as well, but 4 is a good start. Something interesting will happen.
CMDR Delmonte video is very very unique, and he said they did not carry anything.
And, no Sidewinders please: try to bring massive and big ships instead: I think the mass could be important.

Ratking is right, we need the ships very close, almost touching the UA.

Well I'm against having people that close due to expierence with losing UA's......and sidewinders are easier to control and smaller so more ships are possible to get close to the UA.......so yeah.
