Out in HR 1185 now .... could do with 2 more Cmds to make a wing of 4... testing to see if SSS spawn rate increases. In Mobius group

Assuming some degree of persistence on the server for rare events such as unknown artefacts, perhaps what is happening is the convoy retrieves the artefact, and then they jump to an adjacent, uninhabited system. From there, the Type 9 drops out of supercruise, experiences mechanical failure, and out pops the artefact, where it remains.
Are you speculating or has this happened before? I swear I read a post where someone followed the convoy and found the T9 on its own and subsequently scooped the UA whilst the T9 crew cried in the distance. I'm a newcomer to these discussions so I'm a little hazy with the facts.
I've noticed this behavior by Hafnium convoys in the HIP 30130 and Azaleach systems. They always seem to jump to the same uninhabited system. So, if HIP 30130 and/or Azaleach are places where the right kind of convoy will spawn, perhaps where I should be searching is that nearby system...
Also, there are a heck of a lot of T Tauri stars in HR 1185 - wondering if that might be significant somehow?
I spend a few hours in Maia, nothing then. But not nearly the 12-15 hours that Allitnil spend.
I've also been hopping around in the Pleiades to do both exploration and jump in any SSS I found, but nothing special yet. So far, HR 1185 is still the only place they have been found in the wild. Don't know how much time people have spend in the other systems.
Also, regarding Diamondback as an armed explorer, wonder if that was introduced to entice players to check SSSes while out exploring.

Unable to rep you, so have a biscuit

I guess Maia can't be ruled out then, on account of not enough time spent. But thanks for the info.
I reckon so, re the DBX

Did that yesterday for about 3 hours, wing of 4.
SSS are individual. No increased spawn rate.
Besides, we flew back as a wing, all the way up to 109 Virginis.
Nothing to report whiel being in a wing of 4, even with damaged FSD.
Yep, I think hunting in wings just means more eyes which equals quicker rate of finding signals, which is useful
If anyone is feeling adventurous and wants to know if the black holes have anything to do with UA spawning, try out HIP 63835. It has 3 black holes, two of them very close together. I was exploring the system before we really knew much about the UAs, and there were SSS spawning between the 2 black holes. With an exploring setup I was too nervous to jump in them. I mentioned this system in the first thread, and it was dismissed as just another system within 500 ly of civilization with random SS spawns. That might still be the case, or it might be a source for the Empire UA convoys.
Now that the UAs have been found free floating, I really want to go back and camp on those two black holes to see what the SSS have in them. Unfortunately I'm 13k ly away. If no one figures this mystery out in the next few weeks, I'll be going there.
Hmm when i think of your theory with all the "scarabs" it could be a hatchery right?
Otherwise i see a sarcophagus here, and a big hint to an egyptian theory i share with "IandIRedeye".
Some things better stay wrapped in trusty tinfoil.

Have we tried all turning our backs on it, see if it does something when we're not looking? No peeking anybody, we don't want to spoil the scientificicity of this test.
Maybe it does something like this ?
With all the noise they make, maybe we'll find Elvis inside.
I'd suggest the seven sisters systems themselves as being worth investigating, with UA (for location drop tests) and/or further SSS scavenging:
Pleione
Atlas
Alcyone
Merope
Maia
Electra
Taygeta
Maia has already been scavenged somewhat by some here, but there others might be worth considering.

There now - CMDR Peter Stark
Feel free to add me.
Got so far plenty of pirate fights, no convoys.
