Ah but Frank ...

While yes, Edge Of Tomorrow was about time travel, it had aliens in it.

I reckon you're right enough with your guess of time travel, but it's a moot point. Whatever your guess Strontium Dawg will just go back in time and change the puzzle.

Pray that autopilot becomes a feature after all

Supine and bare I lie, my thoughts half formed, my voice unspoken. I barely hear the melody of tears beside me.

A strong chill envelopes my rapidly cooling skin. "The buggie's chewed a wheel" a voice drifts out as airlock vents spin up to re-pressurise the tiny cabin, "we can't drive back"

A sob by my cheek makes me turn towards the noise; a tear falls onto my forehead.

"We need evac now!" strong warm notes triggering my own.

The deeper voice returns with purposeful urgency, "This is Scarab-2 activating emergency Cobra evac, MAYDAY!... pray they hear us little Frank"

Do you ever think you will fully recover?

not fully no but at least unlike you judging by your picture i havent gone completely crazy yet.............
so i must count my lucky stars for that, and elite makes that task easier!
your boat race does look like its protected with the new bomb retardent cameo paint "gone completely crazy", only the lipstick is not genneral issue and does warrent immediate
discharge, so removing avon no 5 is probably a good idea.

For all of our sins.

'Give me a prayer in my final moments' the old man gasped to his priest 'have I not led a good life?
'Some would say you led an exemplary life, and I'm sure others would say you are the scum of the earth who took everything they had away from them and more.
The old man chuckled and coughed a young woman dabbed at his mouth with a cloth.
'It has been too long since i saw the stars, but I shall see them again soon'
the priest nodded 'Are you sure you want to go through with this Emperor?'

Skydiving

As Simoof fell towards the planet, he was joined by a giant sperm whale and a potted petunia.

As the petunia muttered, "Not again...", the whale began making conversation with Simoof.

"Oh, hello there! Fancy meeting another in mid.... what is this we're in? Ahhh, I can breathe it in, so, ahhhhir. Air! Yes! I'm a... um, what am I? Wha.... in air? Whair? No, no, that does not sound right."

Simoof muttered, "Ale... thirsty."

"Wh.... ale! Yes! Whale! Perfect! What are you?"

Simoof looked up at the retreating ship, remembering the promise. "Want... Candy."

"Oh, you're Candy! So..."

*SPLAT!!!!*

That's a lovely drabble Mr Erik. So poetic, full of imagery and the characterisation, wow I was gripped right up until Simoof became plankton!
Did the whale land on Moofsy? Please say it did :D

Conjecture is left to the masses.

The Artist is finished with his work.

He is now ready to accept his 2 votes again this week.

You're welcome.

My first Drabble is based on reality. The reality of a failed trip to the center of the galaxy....

Temperature Critical!

One quarter of the way back to inhabited space I made the mistake so many others have made, I fell asleep while scanning a star.

I awoke with a start as the sparks were lighting up the cockpit and the death-knell of the inevitable.

In a blink of an eye I swore to myself, prayed to the universe for time to stop long enough for me to evade and then it happened;
the moment of calming relaxation, of being one with the galaxy, my ship and.. the.. star...

It was too late. The ship’s computer chanted her death-knell, “EJECT.. EJECT..”

Ah, well, at least you KNEW there were votes to be had. No, not me. I'd be lucky if someone bothered to look at my drabble sideways. Twas a luxury if they took the bother to spit on it!

PS- Welcome to our new Drabbler! See, 'Kow? Giving him a shout-out finally got him to type a few words and put them together into something that resembles... well, something. :)

If you can get that standard of Drabbler from a shout-out, Kow, then there are over 52,000 shout-outs to go... get shout-out-ing.

Welcome to the pit of broken dreams Stu. Prepare to have people kick the tyres and slam the doors of your Drabble.

I felt it appropriate to describe my pit of broken explorer dreams with a pit of broken exploder nightmares in this medium you refer to as a pit of broken dreams.
Surely you are referring to an extremely substandard level of writing if you were referring to my Drabble. It pretty much wrote itself ...after the explosion. ;-)

Thanks for the welcome! As they say, first time drabbler, long time lurker

when most refere to sub standard drabbles i think mine are the benchmark they measure them by, in which case you have nothing to worry about
P.S dont think morpheus sang the firefly song much

I have to disagree! I use Listeri69's drabbles as the low-tide mark of irrelevancy to the current weeks theme, closely followed by Simoof's.

This is how it plays out...

You try a few Drabbles just to be sociable. People tell how great they are because they feel so natural.

You find yourself cruising around the Galaxy late at night looking for experiences you can write about.

You start experimenting with synthetic stories, mixing in powerful metaphors so your Drabbles are more of a hit.

Eventually you find yourself knocking on the postbox of the previous week's winner on Monday morning, pleading and demanding he gives you a topic.

When the tide is low is when the beach is ready. The scantily clad bodied soaking in the glory. Then high titde - all teh dead bodies, and poo and toxic waste wash in. So thank you so much Ian. Its nice to know someone out there appreciates all the hard work that the Simons here do.
