Operation Enigma, breaking the code!

Oh and i do have an opinion with this....

i do not think that solo mode should have an effect on open mode.
i think that the two should be completely separate.
technically if i am in a fight with a person and they then log off then go into solo mode then to a station then fly back reload then jump back to the system log back in then back into the fight i was in then come and kill me as they have fully reloaded without consequence is as good as an exploit. in fact it smacks of cheating. i have never ever known a game where the two are mixed and influence each other.
people are exploiting solo to gain in open.
and the fact solo players can undermine open players and i cannot attack the solo players coming into the system i am trying to protect in open is plain ridiculous and again although it is within the game mechanics you could call it an exploit. a legal one.

that is my opinion.
many share it.
if that offends others then i apologise in advance.
please note i said "could" call it an exploit i in no way stated it WAS an exploit!

this is not off topic. the OP stated he wanted to gain numbers to undermine CODE in solo mode. and he reiterated SOLO mode.
like i said no offence intended but that doesn't sit right with me. IMO.
like i said ... its an OPINION. i am not stating or telling or demanding.

There is already a thread to share your opinion on this specific topic : https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=169599

This thread is not a debate about if it is an exploit or not to do one thing or another in open or in solo or in group mode.
It is merely a proposal to rally some Cmdrs to do something together or at least to achieve an objective together.
The ships targeted will be NPC ships only, not Player ships.
It is all about PVE content as far as I can tell.

Okay, I have a question here. Let's assume for a moment that *everyone* had to play this game in Open, and you're patrolling Code's neck of the woods. How would you know which CMDRs are there to undermine Code's influence, and which ones are there to help? This is the thing - there's no way to tell what Bulletin Board missions a CMDR has taken, so there's no way to know who's on your side or against you even if they do come to Open to play. Or are you just going to kill anyone who isn't Code and hope that sorts it out?

The only available "solution" to sort this out is provided by... Powerplay ! Sort of... ;)

But you have to pledge to a power.

Indeed, but minor factions aren't Powers, so you *can't* pledge to them, and as yet there's no word from FDev how minor factions can become Powers (though that is apparently something they're working on). Which once again brings us back to the question: how do you defend against a CMDR who's working against your own minor faction, when you don't know who that CMDR is?

Many of these groups have spreadsheets etc of pilots who are members or allied, and indeed kill on sight lists. They typically check them over teamspeak and a "leave alone" or "kill" is issued.

You are correct, there is no "ingame" solution to allow a Cmdr supporting a minor faction to identify an active enemy working against them.
Right now it is all about thrust, misinformation, guessing, deception, lies, gathering intelligence, etc. Just like in a cold war scenario.
