Mystery solved... the UA is a very advanced scientific probe for someone or something.
In 1.3 it learnt morse code, and how to identify systems with it. It also got kidnapped by us, and through all the time being transported, poked, prodded, shot at, etc.
Then, in 1.4 it adapted and learnt to scan our ships, and re-construct an image of it...
So... this got me thinking...
Where did it find the etch-a-sketch?
On a slight side note, I was just using my headphones today and I swear I can hear what sounds similar to the UA honk when in witch-space while jumping between systems. This might indicate the honks are when it transmits long distance, or might be a totally unrelated coincidence.
Summary:
- The UA has determined where we are
- It knows what our ships look like, and possibly thier capabilities
- There are many more of them.
- Is probably is transmitting this long distance via witch-space to <????>
So, predictions for 1.5?
Well, it looks like its gathering military intelligence on us. So I see a few things that could happen:
- The UA's gather more intelligence, possibly becoming more prominent within the bubble
- Next steps for a possible invasion, probably start with rumours of ships disappearing.
- Possibly start to have some "interesting" encounters?
One final thought:
Is there any other behaviours or things to discover in relation the UA's in 1.4?

Although for an alien civilisation to do their intelligence via etch-a-sketch is a little worrying. They probably plan their attacks on a board, with sticks and push stuff around?

I noticed these transports and didn't think they looked familiar.. I unfortunately didn't have a cargo scanner on me at the time to see what they were carrying, I'm interested to see. I hung around for awhile to watch the chatter but they didn't say much. If I see them again I'll try and get more out of the encounter.

I've scanned them before. They contain occupied cryo-pods, medical research, performance enhancers, and progenitor cells. Someone seems to be trying to breed super-soldiers or something.

I hope so. Right now, we have an answer to the question "Have you listened to them?" and an indication of something the UA can do. It's probably not the only thing they can do, plus we still don't know who made them, where they come from, and when the next step will occur (or what that step will be).
Great work on all of these Rizal, but can you please include the morse in text format as well?
