I honestly think it is a huge mistake to be concentrating on 1.5 and Horizons when there are so many problems with 1.4 that are affecting players right now. I personally wouldn't care if 1.5 and Horizons were a month or more late if it meant that the problems in 1.4 were given serious attention. Otherwise it is a house of cards. You'll have new capabilities built on unstable foundations and will only cause greater pain and misery for the users down the line. Now even if they are being given attention but are slated for 1.5 then this is not a good strategy either. Not only are you making your players suffer for longer but you are also making the testing phase and associated scope much much larger. In the software triangle of doom, personally I'd be choosing TIME and QUALITY at the expense of FEATURES. Much better to have frequent, small and quality updates than infrequent, large and potentially problem ridden updates.
I've been working in the software development industry for over 20 years, I've seen all these mistakes played out time and time again and the end result is always the same.

Who says FD are not interested in keeping the mac support going?

small things maybe, any chance of repairing the starport air-lock orientation lights, i'm making a lot of people scream because i'm lazily scraping them as i enter/exit... this may be mac specific and i realise FD aren't that interested in keeping development going for mac but it's got to be as simple as pushing a button somewhere... or maybe i need to do that?
