What are you on about ?
I put gear down and all my thursters work great I take off on thursters as well up left and right ?

Some of us like to hold the thrust up control while waiting for launch clearance so that we start moving immediately upon disengage from dock. Nowadays, if you do this, nothing will happen unless you let go of the control and press it again after dock disengage. Its a minor thing, but a lot of people, myself included, have gotten used to being able to do this. When the change happened I'm sure we were just staring at the screen as nothing moved (when it would have before)..."Am I pressing the button hard enough!?!?!"

Thanks Monk, that's exactly what I'm "on about" :)

Far be it for me to question how Frontier do things, but I have to question how Frontier are doing things.
I'm no software developer but I have done programming for people in my time and even I can see this is not the right way to do things.

I can understand that 1.5/Horizons is the focus now but you cannot let that take the focus of critical gameplay issues today. Do you really want or need people being pee'd off and complaining from now until 1.5 and then beyond that because a supposed fix wasn't done properly ?
Far better to get things fixed now (or soon) so they can be tested out during the rest of 1.4 and then when 1.5 comes out you know they will no longer be issues.
I'm referring to things like the NPC AI and SMAA issues which are slated for 1.5. I find this totally bewildering.
The AI in Res Zones are really poor now. If you approach from behind and open fire, more often than not, the ship will just sit there rolling from side to side until you stop firing or it's shields go down. Even then there is no guarantee it will move. So you just come to a stop and fire until you destroy it, Elite Anaconda or not. Also their ability to smack into asteroids is like they never made it out of pilot training. I have videos of both of these issues.
One time I was firing on a ship when it collided with another ship (clean) and thus my laser hit this clean ship just once and I got a 200cr bounty (can't we relax this so friendly fire doesn't give you a fine unless you fire 2 or more times on the vessel??). Not only that but that clean ship then ran off being chased by another pirate who then blew him up and it was ME who got the fine for the murder !! Now I'm Wanted there for the next 6 days. Great !

The SMAA issue is somethng else that needs sorting before 1.5. As with the NPC AI, you just can't keep people waiting until 1.5 to sort this out. The NPC AI diminishes gameplay and the SMAA an inconvenience but still....

On both of those issues it says "will be looked into for 1.5". That doesn't even mean fixed ! Honestly that's just not good enough.
What if you 'look into' these things, think you've sorted it, launch 1.5 and it's still broken or not right. Then you have more work to sort that out after 1.5.
You have much more chance of making 1.5 a great update if you fix the issues in 1.4 along the way.

Making interdictions 'slightly easier' is fine. But what about the repititions ? Hopefully something, like some different logic, can be applied there for 1.5

Lastly are the small things like the 10CR Repair bug (it IS a bug because the logic of it is flawed), the black text on the HUD, should all be sorted by now. Those are issues you can fix over a cup of coffee so why are they still there ?
Saying "it's a known issue" is nothing. We know it's known because we know it. That you know it tells us nothing about what's going to be done about it and when.

I really think Frontier should be more forthcoming and communicative with details. Also with all the mess that came with 1.4, the changlog which was originally posted here is a disappointment.

I'm not one to make posts of this nature but after seeing this response from the devs I felt I had to as I'm just not able to hide how disappointing this is that bugs we have now are not going to looked at until 1.5. I don't understand this way of doing things.

Small team, most focused on Horizons. I think that's pretty much it.

I think the main issue to consider and the one that Zac has said they are looking at - is stop bugs from being created when they release new patches or input new fixes.

Elite is a released title, they don't get money (directly) for providing patches, they get money by providing new content that we want to buy.

People have a lot of unrealistic expectations and take them to heart and then passionately commentate about them on the forums when the best course of action is to drop the game for a while. If lots of people suddenly stop playing I guarantee they will change their mind about getting something fixed sooner rather than later.

Report of mining missions not updating stats as well. Just leaves combat not broken.

Have you given it a bit of time to see if it updates? Sometimes their servers are a little slow to update the right panel. I dumped 20 million of exploration data and it took the panel a little bit to catch up, went from 84% to 12% from ranger to pioneer. Just took a bit. Combat/Trade/Mining stats sometimes lag a little too, especially if you are letting the panel sit on the screen hoping it'll magically refresh.

+1
So it is.

Yes plenty of time. No update. Same thing happened last Friday the data never did update. Looks like the transaction did not process correctly and is lost for ever. Your total CR still goes up so you can carry on trading. But no profit progression so one assumes no rank progression.
The trade profit always updates straightaway. The % increase in rank slower just like exploration data selling.

Fully agree. +1 Rep.

I know that Frontier is looking to get 1.5 out and, more specifically perhaps, Horizons out for the additional sales that they may generate but, IMHO, there have been core issues that have been hindering the game for a long time now. I think they should slow down the work on 1.5 and Horizons (we can live without those nifty YouTube videos about the latest prowess of the planetary landing) and concentrate on fixing those pestering bugs that have been known for a long time, so that the core foundation is solid. How can you build a second floor to a house when the foundations are crumbling? It will only get worst because as more features are added in 1.5 and specially Horizons, more and more bugs are going to cripple the game and they will all be a lot harder to fix. Better to fix them now than wait.

I might have missed it in 40 pages of threadnaught but were the last ExplorerGate issues fixed? the 'scan data bug fixed' hasn#t been updated in days but there was still one fix outstanding. Just wondering...

Correct from a programming point of view. FIX THE BUSTED BITS before moving to next level.

Ok why Frontier do not do this?

MONEY. Dead line for 1.5 is set in stone it appears. So must get it out or BACKERS will not be happy.

Anyone from Frontier care to comment I bet not <SMIRK>

Lankspeed (wish i was a shareholder NOT)

Tis a hallmark of iterative development. When done correctly, business value comes first. It will all get fixed in time.

If you were a shareholder you'd be beating inflation...sooo

Careful, people been saying this from the get-go to only get shouted down by those who shan't be named.

"Speak of the devil and he shall appear."

Interdictions are still terrible.

The full range of problems is still there, if not worse than ever:

- impossible maneuvers that can't be compensated by the limited yaw capabilites of the ship
- sudden erratic jumps of the evasion vector of 80° angles or more
- an almost full evasion bar that suddenly jumps to being interdicted instead of successfully escaping, as I should have
- an almost full interdiction bar that suddenly jumps to me being able to evade instead of being successfully interdicted, as I should have
- illogical reduction of the evasion bar, even if I'm aligned dead center with the evasion reticule, making it completely impossible to evade.

In its current form the interdiction minigame is completely useless. You might just as well do a 50/50 coin toss on any interdiction attempt and just go with the result instantly, which would save a lot of time and frustration about this buggy game element.

Sounds like it didn't go so well again. Also, I guess I just can't lose. ;) I'm in "lollygag" mode now since I made it to SOL and am just out looking around at the old place. Not doing my pew-pew or trying to rank up. Well, other than killing off the constant weak NPC interdictors doing their "I'll barrel-roll in front of your guns while talking smack" thing. Annoying, but not killing my enjoyment.

Earth looks pretty cool. It's the only thing I saw last night before putting the Vulture to sleep in its hangar.

Looking forward to more lollygagging tonight.

:)

Heh, yeah, based on the response so far...might be best to just cruise around lookin at stuff.

Unless the noise is just loud....and others not having issues are just busy playing.

When I get home tonight, I'll see for myself (I didn't really experience a lot of the problems people had prior to .01 anyway)

That's really bad! I was looking to re-engage in PowerPlay undermining. I guess I'll have to leave PowerPlay. Not worth all the time to gather enough merits through broken interdictions and silly at shuffling useless fortification and preparation documents.
