You might play too much Elite when...
... you miss the obvious.
While my significant other will be the first to tell you that she is terrible about video games she has occasionally enjoyed watching me play Elite, typically after asking me something repeatedly which I've failed to hear due to my headphones. She's also enjoyed a number of posts from this subreddit that I've shared with her, her favorite being one in which a number of you posted how you respond to your significant others asking you to do something while playing Elite.
As a little bit of background we just bought our first house, and after my boss quit at work I've been doing the job of two people, so we've been a bit busy. Once I get home from long hours at the office if we're not working on the house or watching Netflix I'm often unwinding by playing Elite.
With everything going on we haven't had as much "us time" as we otherwise would (I'll keep it PG-13, there could be kids around you know, somewhere).
So last night I jumped into a HRES to try and rack up some bounties and take advantage of my PP bonus before it wears out (since I didn't farm merits this week, stupid work getting in the way). I had just engaged a python when my SO walks in and says that she thought of something fun for us to do. Catching her drift I told her that I just needed to get back to the nearby station and redeem my bounties (I've become a bit OCD about turning them in after an incident that cost me a number of merits and bounties).
On my way out of the HRES I got attacked by another python, and well, I wasn't about to let him get away with it. Or the one after that. And especially not the silly little Imperial Eagle after that. Suffice to say this goes on and I don't get out of mass lock range as quickly as I planned.
Imagine my surprise when I suddenly hear my SO tell me that she's got a Reddit post for me (keep in mind that I don't think she's ever actually even gotten on Reddit herself, she just enjoys the posts I often show her) that I absolutely have to share with this sub. She says "You're spending too much time docking and not enough time docking". I turn around, and well, imagine State-of-California-approved blurs where clothes typically occupy.
Needless to say that I'm surprised I managed to not boost into the side of the station while landing.
So to Frontier: Thank you for making a game that I can get this absorbed into. Possibly too into. On second thought, maybe I shouldn't be thanking you.
To everyone else: Make sure that your (non-power related) priorities are set appropriately.
TLDR: CMDR gets distracted bounty hunting and has to boost through the mailslot so he can get to the mailslot.
