If you are eligible to have the Cobra MK IV, you will have to find a station that sells it, and then you can buy it.

Really? It seemed pretty clear that the Cobra Mk. IV would be just like the "Freagle", sitting for you at some station, no need to buy it.

Even in beta i had to find and buy the Cobra mk iv, it has always been stated as having to do this. I have been to a few of the well known Li Yong stations and did not see it, not seen a cutter or corvette for sale yet either.

since another CMDR is stating "It has always been stated" I will post part of the pm I sent support:

Links probably don't work now.

"There is confusion about the Cobra Mk IV that is part of the E: D Horizons expansion.

I am an Alpha backer, that got the Lifetime Pass as part of my purchase.

Assuming one owns Elite: Dangerous, and buys Horizons, or the Lifetime pass, then:

According to Michael Brooks here: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showth...=1#post2637465
The cobra is free.

According to the Elite Dangerous Facebook Here: https://www.facebook.com/EliteDangerousOfficial?fref=nf
The cobra is free

According to The Frontier store: "For a limited time all existing Elite: Dangerous players will receive a £10 loyalty discount plus the exclusive Cobra Mark IV ship when ordering the Elite Dangerous: Horizons through the Frontier Store. Discount will be automatically applied at checkout. The Cobra Mark IV will be added to your account when Elite Dangerous: Horizons Lands."
I interpret "will receive...the exclusive Cobra Mark IV" and "added to your account" as being free."

Burn! ;)

I'm a Beta backer, and that is exactly what my pre-purchase agreement said, absolutely no questioning what the intent was when you decided to pay for the pre-release.

FD needs to back-pedal and fix this really quickly...

have to be honest I never checked when I pre-ordered, and had thought it was 'available to buy' so I would have to pay. However, now Ive read exactly what it says it is completely clear it should be free and not something I need to pay for. The other evidence above just serves to confirm that fact.

Don't worry it's coming... it's just very slow to so could take a couple of weeks to get there.

What is coming? If you are waiting to be given (without paying in-game money) a Cobra MkIV, you will have a long wait. Frontier changed there minds I guess and decided we would have to pay for it, hence the PM I sent before that I quoted above.

Support did reply, saying we would have to buy it in game. Mr. Braben didn't reply when I PM'd him.

Edit:
Because some are interested here is part of the reply I received from support:

"This is free and not time limited, but you do still have to buy it in game like ever other ship"

Comes across as a bit naughty, it was certainly implied you get the ship free with the pre-order.
I'm personally not happy they weren't clear on the matter but I imagine I can't do anything about it.

It's probably an oversight, and support isn't aware of the store offer. If you were part of the original Beta, you got a free Eagle, parked at a nearby station, so the precedent has been set long ago to offer "free" ships as a perk.

I'm sure they will correct it since it's a pretty minor thing for most players, more a matter of principle.
