I'm not seeing the problem. Just like Robigo it should be great for smuggling missions...

Except that was never its purpose.

What we were promised and presented as an achievable goal was the polar opposite.
To quote the GALnet entry : A Sanctuary and reliable Resupply point!

Not some Anarcho-Hub that are already a dime a dozen inside the bubble...
The Explorer's Association doesn't exactly sound like their goal is to extend Anarchy into deep space, does it? Neither are they the Pirates' Association, nor the Smuggler's Association.

In my books, this will go into E : D history as the great betrayal.
Had I known this was the plan, I wouldn't have even looked at Kaushpoos in the Galaxy Map from 175LY away, let alone waste tons of hours on helping to build it...

I get that it perhaps "breaks" some people's lore, and FD should probably have taken that into consideration, but does it matter in practical terms ?
It's a "pirate hub" if there are pirates robbing everyone blind, or killing them and limit their access to the station (something that could happen, given the stations remote location), not some system security rating
or some NPC faction ownership.
As far as i can see, everyone can still use the place exactly the way they intended to ?
Not trying to be daft here, but i struggle to get my head around the hubbub.

Okay, how did this even come to pass? Did a player group apply for a faction of their own and picked Maia, then their faction was (as always) conjured into existence complete with station and system control? Or did they genuinely play the BGS to take over this station?

It was given to them, factions were decided during 1.4. Then were first visible in the 1.5 Beta.

Do we know if this is actually a player group?

Yes, https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=201653&highlight=hagglebeard

It's not their group per se, but honorary additions.

Same goes for that Communism, it's obvious that it's an honorary reference to Ben Ryder. It's also probably runner ups on the station name contest.

What? Do I get that right? Someone created the group spontaneously just to take over the station, just like that? And FD handed it to them on the silver platter?

I have no background to it other than what you see there. What the process for applying for a ingame player faction is, I don't know. I thought that you put your group forward and FD assigned you your system, that's what i gathered.

Pirate player factions being there, sure it's a blunder. It being an anarchy is to be expected. It's 475 ly out of the bubble and literally meant to be the new frontier. If it wasn't anarchy it would be wrong. I still want some outfitting and a shipyard there...

Hrm, seems a bit weird to just hand player factions system that far out, oh well, if people are objecting enough they can be removed from it with a bit of effort.

Can someone provide a screenshot of the system map, displaying the anarchy?

Don't have a screenshot of the system map, but I do have this. Was taken last night before I logged off.

There's a pirate faction, communist and 2 democratic factions in the system. All flagged as Anarchy. The galaxy map says it's exploited by Hudson, but the station information screen says otherwise.

Well, what's the plan here then, Commanders?

Are there reasonable options or is this an everlasting uphill struggle where the game is semi-literally stacked against us? Once a pirate hub, always a pirate hub and all that?
