Found a Little Easter Egg

There's a system called Phekda, Lee Terminal is controlled by a faction called Ancient of Mumu. It has to be a reference to KLM's 'Justified and Ancient' hit song. Proof that Braben likes to boogey?

KLF also call themselves The Jams or Justified Ancients of Mumu as well as The Timelords. Justified and Ancient was about themselves but I don't think they ever explained why they drive an ice cream van.

I haven't been to Phekda in a long while (it was one of the first permits I got as for RP it's my homeworld) but Lee Terminal and that faction are certainly a new addition. Can't recall it ever being mentioned on here so maybe mates of a mate *nudge nudge*.

A friend of mine interviewed KLF back in the day, not too long after the 'Summer of Love '89' here in the UK and apparently they had all kinds of threats over using the Justified Ancients of Mu Mu as their own..
When he interviewed them, the infamous Ice Cream van was rusting away in their back garden....

I had the JAMs album... The one that was bannned due to an unlicenced Abba sample.... It got stolen from me around the time I was playing the original Elite on a borrowed BBC micro (...I think...).
Talking of Easter Eggs, when I started out in my Sidey.... I came across a planet called something like" THFC Est 1888".... Won't mean much to most people, but its an English football team....

Young whippersnappers.

The JAMs are much, much older than that. Check out Robert Anton Wilson's "Illuminatus" trilogy. KLF just let themselves be inspired by them.

Hail Eris!

Yep, youngsters these days have a lot to learn. My oh my, what a book...!!!

That will be an injected player faction. I was part of the group of CMDRs that flipped Phekda from Anarchy (the Phekda Society) to communism (the Phekda Union or somesuch - the names all blur together after a while) before the Alioth Independents were pushed in and the system was flipped to benefit Mahon on Powerplay. There were no Ancients of Mu Mu that I can recall.

Lee Terminal has always been there.

That be in the Bast system, site of the famous Bast Plague CGs a few months ago; the station name (Hart Station) is also named after the same football team's home ground. Apparently when the game first launched it was called "White Hart Road Station". Someone must have complained and the name was shortened.

Back in the Kickstarter phase, supporters who gave a certain amount of money bought the rights to name systems, planets or stations. Bast is presumably the result of a generous Hotspurs supporter.
