GUIDE: Planet sounds and how to know everything from System Map.

My commiserations to all who used them in that case.

On the other hand, maybe they can take that extra step and make the pictures grey circles until we scan them too, orbital distance and mass are all the details we can see in the system map from an ADS honk, removing all short cuts to getting more info is good IMO.

The blue semi-circles for bodies you can land on would imply that FD don't agree with me - but hiding the sounds until you scan is a contraindication so you never know...
Whilst I would welcome anything that meant you had to think at least a little, rather than have it handed on a plate for you, I would not want to see that mechanic introduced without some balancing (aka increase) of the exploration rewards. However, I predict that FD will be far too worried about the complaints from the 'dumb it down' crowd to actually make that change.

I'll be really upset if they have in fact removed the sounds from unscanned planets!
I thought it was an excellent feature and thought it really showcased the amount of work the sound engineers for this game put in and highlighted their attention to skill and detail.
I was also very thankful for this guide whilst I was out exploring.

The sounds have absolutely not been removed.

Let me make that clear: The planet sounds work exactly as before.

The only difference now is that they do NOT work when you are preparing to jump. At this point they are all silent but quitting the jump sequence WILL return the sounds.

i thought they were removed, till i clicked the right tab on the galaxy map (!) ... till then, they are silent in system map, too, if i'm not mistaken.
Probably it's as Goemon says, you have to click the info tab of the sys map.

For now I'll remove the writing on the OP and will check again.

Thank everyone for the support.

oh yes, that's another "issue" - very unpleasant for explorers like me, who egaged hyperjump before opening system map :-/

That was always my preferred method of high speed exploring (as in when I want to get somewhere fast but do not want to miss out on good worlds to discover.) Kind of annoying that you have to drop out to be sure.

Checked right now.
It's working even if you aren't in the same system.
Ex: right now i'm at Dahan and i can hear the sounds of the unexplored planets of HR 5401 (the system i'm prospecting), even if the info tab isn't selected.

BTW: have ever noticed that if you put music volume at minimum (not zero, just a bit) you can hear the planet sounds AND the music that changes on different planets/suns ?

Mhhhh, it seems there are some inconsistancies, everyone is having different experiences!!!! I can hear all explored planets, the unexplored ones not if I'm charging the FSD, sometime only if I'm in the info tab, other times from every tab.
So I'll wait to see what it will happen.
Now for sure it seems that to realistically check the sys map you have to "stop", meaning looking at it while in SC but not while charging the FSD.
Could even be a good decision.
Again thanks all for the support and the feedback!

yea i can't seem to hear any sounds from any unscanned worlds anymore iether.

i wonder whats going on with it.
It seems they don't work if you are charging the FSD. If you are not charging the FSD I can hear them on unscanned planets. I'll make a bug report to understand if it's an intended mechanic or not.

Ok, posted there, but it seems we are only 2!

Cmdr Akira...I know I have repped you for this thread before, but I am using planet sounds more and more in my exploration.

I love the dripping of water worlds, the bird song of earth-likes...but my favourite sound now is the ammonia world. I listened to it for the first time the other day and it sounded so epic.

So thanks again for bringing this to our attention.

Frawd
