Those aren't two different things. What Michael said his claim about alpha exclusivity window being just hunting show stoppers, and that PR got it little wrong, because 2 week window was meant for first premium beta build, meant to come out to premium beta testers on 30th May.
Is that galaxy from the game and PG generated? If so.....

I wasn't entirely convinced by the "few hours" thing, partly because it was obviously a best case scenario thing put out to address some specific worries, and partly because it seems unlikely that things will go that smoothly when so many game elements are brought together for the first time.
I'm totally reconciled with that and with the alpha testing of beta releases which is a sensible (if ill communicated) part of the development process.
All I want to know now is will beta be interrupted by these two-week alpha tests of new builds?
EDIT: Looks like it's been answered. Sounds like the 2 weeks is for the first beta release, after than it'll be back to the "few hours".

1 - Premium Beta starts the 30th of May and Alpha backers have 2 weeks early access so Premium beta backers will have access on the 13th of June.
2 - Premium Beta starts the 30th of May and Alpha backers have 2 weeks early access so Alpha backers will have access around the 16th of May and Premium beta backers will have access on the 30th of May.
3 - Premium Beta starts the 30th of May and Alpha backers will have access to the builds first on the 30th of May. The exclusivity period is hoped to only last a few hours but may last up to 2 weeks so Premium beta backers may not get access till the 13th of June due to bugs/issues but may get access within a few hours.
Which one is it?

This is is second. After this first premium beta build, any additional beta builds will get much smaller alpha testing, as little as 2 hours. If everything works (beta wise), off to wider crowd it goes.

Wow, that is not what I was expecting. If Alpha players are getting the Prem Beta on the 16th of May (5 weeks from tomorrow) that must be really pushing back on the time line for Alpha 4 Release.

Regarding upgrading from a lesser backer version to premium beta,
Is this not possible anymore? Has anyone else with 2nd Round Beta (or below) been able to get a discount/adjustment to the price in the store?
(Those who have backer rewards who bought from the previous store)
At step 3 (payment review) it tells me $150 with no mention of my £50 being deducted. Should I not see that at that point in the process?

I got £85 discounted, so upgraded for £15 from standard beta. Think you have to go through to checkout to get the discount applied.
