Not safe, so I left group Mobius

The whole Mobius drama is ridiculous.

It's like reading about someone being hit by a car and then refusing to ever go near a road again because roads are dangerous mmkay.

OMG my safe space is RUINED, somebody do something, we need protecting from the bad men! =/

So much melodrama over nothing.
It's much more akin to somebody deliberately aiming for you on the road and ramming you straight off it. There's a certain amount of unspoken trust that goes to the other drivers, and when that's breached it can really shake you up.

Aye sure, but I just think the discussion needs perspective.

I've been playing in Mobius pretty much since it started and I've never been attacked by players, all the people I've seen have either simply ignored me or been really friendly.

Yes, you'll get a few imbeciles joining the group just to grief but no group can totally screen out these attention seeking kiddies. I'm sure Mobius is doing all he can to remove the problem people.

However, his job would be far easier if FD gave him to tools to do it right. ie:- immediately ban anyone from HIS group. being able to ban an "account" rather than a name would help a lot too.

It would seem the admin tools need over-hauling. So a search box rather than having to scroll through 20k names to find a needle in a haystack.

I joined Mobius months back, played a bit, didn't really feel much different to solo as I ploughed back and forth between Sol and Anlave (trade route now hobbled btw). Maybe group participation should have an inactivity kicker. No log in for 3 months, auto expulsion?

I've yet to be attacked in mobius.

My current PvP battle count in open since joining in October is about..... 3
Didn't win any, but I didn't die either.
First one was some Elite Conda pilot, seemed to me like he was at least TRYING to pick on things his own size, I was in my newly acquired Python however, from a scan, it probably looked alot better than it did. However it was mostly C/B grade. Lol
2nd & 3rd time has been at CGs. Both times the same 2 guys in a FAS and FDL.
First time I dropped in tohelp a friend (I failed), 2nd time they dropped in on me.

Um, in any case, you can leave a PG . i left one yesterday (not even remember joining it).

Mobius is ideal for new players. I used it. My Son used it too. It gives new players an actual chance to learn the game.

Did you or your son tried Open first? Because I did, and a mate started 6 weeks ago in Open, too. Neither of us got 'griefed', including the 60+ hrs we spend in a +30LY radius around the starting system. And when I winged with him I always matched ships, so griefers werent scared of my FdL or something either. I am sure sometimes somethign happen, but I cant help but feel the overwhelming vast majority of 'Open beginners' never run into any problem with griefers, so 'an actual chance to learn' might be a bit hyperbolic. ;)

Someone got hurt once getting off a bus, those things aren't safe and I'll never use one again. My seat can be taken by someone else, despite me not actually having used a bus for 5 years.

Ridiculous click bait thread is ridiculous.

Yes its all rather depressing. Yet sadly the behaviour works, they keep kicking up this massive fuss and drawing attentino to themselves, perpetually creating threads like this. With the devs then pressured to address their every little whim. I think FD need to draw a line under this or it will never end. Are we really going to be hearing the same stuff in five or ten years time?

Going back to the original post (and the two or three others who started similar threads): I think you're blowing this up way out of proportion.

Yes, there apparently were a few players who didn't stick to the group rules, and were evicted. According to various other threads around Mobius, that wasn't the first time, and I'll bet it wasn't the last time, either.

As for CMDR Mobius quitting over this: I wouldn't think so. If you do this kind of job, you'll have to develop some tolerance towards this kind of behaviour. You don't have to suffer fools gladly, but you will gladly see fools suffer. Quite apart from that, if you check the elitepve website, you'll find out that Mobius isn't a one man show. If you want to make sure it doesn't stop, volunteer to work for their team.

As to FD taking a hand in that - nope. I wouldn't expect it, and I wouldn't want it even. They set up the framework, they support Mobius (and other player groups) in getting the environment to run even in those cases where they're coming upon limits of the framework - but policing of the communities and community rules is up to us players. Personally, I can't be a*sed to start a witch hunt myself, but if someone would set up a headhunting group to kick these (or similar) antisocial elements out of the game wherever they show up their ugly mugs, I'd chip in with a Vulture. Or donate a few million credits to a group bounty effort to get in a few heavy hitters. But I'm afraid The Code in general would be ambigous at the most, since Mobius runs pretty much orthogonal to their play style.

I am playing as an Explorer, and I am member of Mobius myself. I chanced to go out on my latest trip in open[1], and during this time (part in the bubble), the number of other CMDRs I encountered I could count on the fingers of one hand. The number of other CMDRs I had any intercation with could be counted on the fingers of a blind carpenter's hand.

So, don't fret too much about this - keep on playing. Every hour spent complaining on the forum is an hour less you can keep on exploring the universe (or whatever you're doing out there).

[1] Ok, I admit, I had my exploration vessel outfitted with some moderate firepower[2]. The BGS regarding other lifeforms seems to be gaining momentum, and I wouldn't like to come back to the bubble just to find out that I couldn't even reach a station any more without shooting my way through.

[2] Nothing excessive - just good enough to make sure that any NPC capable of catching up would regret it: Diamondback Explorer.

I'm afraid we are. From both sides of the fence.
Yup, forever!

Or until FD add consequences to mindless murder.
Even then, the PvP and PvE crowds will never be happy.

As will all things, I tend to sit on the fence.
PvEers already have it pretty easy.*
Nearly any encounter can be countered with a simple High Wake.
Sure, ganking prevents that. But any game with more than 2 players will result in ganking as some point.
PvPers just want a challenging fight instead of the brain dead AI. Or some real piracy, or RPing, etc. I get that.
But the main issue just falls down to lack of consequences...
That, and the fact that PvP ship setups are vastly different to PvE.
Meaning before a PvPer even picks a target, he's most likely already got the upper hand.

Yes, this will go on forever. So grab popcorn or ignore.

Yea the number of children that complain that there are players out there who want to think critically of their precious is staggering.

I think you can ask the mod team directly to give you an infraction, it saves you the time of posting so many insults. ;)

I'm afraid we are. From both sides of the fence.

In my experience it appears to be all rather one sided. The PvE only guys are the ones endlessly kicking up the fuss and get away with insulting, berating and maligning the non PvE only players.

When we see daily threads complaining of the ridiculous imbalance the game has in favour of PvE and berating PvE only players, then things would be balanced either side of the fence.
