Could you specify which HOTAS do you have? May be other users of such HOTAS will be able to help you or confirm the bug.

Hi I already did in my first post - Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS and Saitek Pro Combat Pedals.

It's the flip switches (proper metal ones) on the Throttle that I can't get to sync with E:D.

Any thoughts please?

This could be related to the fps drop in multiplayer.

Try using TARGET, but increase the time the pulse is sent for to give ED more chance to detect it. I had this issue with spoofing the 1, 2, 3 keys for the different menus. Just increasing the pulse time resolved it.

Great! Thanks - I'll try it and let [you] know.

Maybe I need to clarify; it's not that the flip switches don't work. Its that I have (let's say) the Autopilot PATH / ALT/HDG / ALT switch set so that when it's in 'ALT/HDG' it turns the ships lights on. Therefore when it's in ALT or in PATH the ships lights should be off.

Except no. I have to switch from PATH to 'ALT/HDG' to get them on, and switching back to PATH doesn't turn them off - I have to switch AGAIN TO 'ALT/HDG' to turn them off. Therefore instead of working like a toggle switch, I'm having to do 4 switch movements.

If I start the game with the switch in PATH - the lights are on - i.e. the game isn't picking up that the switch in not on the 'ALT/HDG' position that should turn the lights on.

Is that clearer? It's really hard to explain without showing it.

Lights is a toggle. Press L once to put them on, and press L to turn them off.

In your case - you should assign L to both Path and ALT/HDG, with the centre pole at nothing at all.

It's not ideal, as you'll still need Lights Off as a separate command to have it set to one direction, which doesn't exist yet.

First up, are you using Alpha 1.1 (ie, what Frontier supplied to the Premium Beta backers) or Alpha 3.4?

Second I don't believe that al the toggle switches will work right. For example, if you set on to enage weapons, then hyper space, that toggle will still be set to engage, but the weapons will be auto retracted for the hyperspace jump. If this is your problem it's probably best to log a support job with Frontier. I'm not sure how this will get fixed. But it would be a similar problem with a landing gear switch.

Hi All,

Just bought the premium beta and I'm having trouble configuring my G940 HOTAS. Looks like ED can't distinguish between the stick and the throttle and sees them as the same controller.

I understand I'm currently limited to Alpha 1.1 and that the beta kicks on May 30th, but is the G940 supported in Alpha 1.1 or do I need to wait?

Cheers.

If G940 HOTAS are actually two separate devices, i.e. each connects to PC with its own USB cable then you cannot use both devices in Alpha 1.1 directly. Multiple controller device support was introduced in Alpha 3.0 only. However, if you really want you can try using UJR via vJoy to be able to use both devices in Alpha 1.1.

The 940 is seen as 3 devices with no software to combine them. Coder will have to wait until the real beta is released.

Advice needed on this joystick and head track

Hello fellow cmdrs

I was watching the youtube video in the latest newsletter and a chap by the name of Isinona is flying in that video - exceptionally well i might add and with FA off!.

They are using the following setup:

Controlled using the Thrustmaster T-Flight HOTAS X
Headtracking controlled with TrackIR.

I was pondering a Saitek X52 Pro at £119 but for that money i could probably get the head tracking and the Thrustmaster together.

Does anyone have either of these, and would you recommend them or should i stick to my original plan of the Saitek X52 pro and skip on the head tracking?

I would go for a HOTAS that has more buttons. Also take into account that it is better when more buttons are right under you fingers.

As for TrackIR - it makes playing ED much easier because it removes necessity in UI panel controls completely.

Also TrackIR 5 is not cheap (amazon.co.uk lists it at about £139.99). There are numerous alternatives discussed here on the forums. If you have Alpha forum access then you can read here:

I have the thrustmaster t-flght hotas it was £30 off ebay and makes a big difference in playing elite, as I used a gamepad and I found it really hard, head tracking I wont pay for trackIR, there is another thread on here which is head tracking for a tenner and you can make it yourself if you know how to solder, also take into consideration the occulus rift that is going to be amazing and is going to be very expensive but worth it.

The choice is yours.

OR is interesting indeed, however it also have disadvantages, price, weight, not being able to look around, i.e see keyboard etc. Also there is no consumer version release date yet.

A good HOTAS that gives U proper control is always the most important upgrade you can give your digital flying hobby!
You can always try out the various free TrackIR alternatives for a while and if your not satisfied you can always get TrackIR down the road anyways.

But starting off, get a good HOTAS that your satisfied with!

I'm using the Thrustmaster T-Flight X HOTAS and TrackIR.... it does everything I need, I even have a couple of spare buttons left :p
