Making my way to the Rift. Will attempt to slice a path and cross it just south of the Heart Nebula and then work my way up behind the Rift to the bridge like Alkibiades.

That was the idea. Pluss, it is sort of in the right region.
Back on page 27, just a few days ago, Drew posted a twitter message stating "you don't need Horizons to discover whatever this is". Whatever is to be found, hasnt.
AhhGood one - I like the uncharted "dark systems" idea as well .. But don't know how that would work. I waffle on limiting the jump range to that of a cobra (In the book it had special modifications i think)... As to the skill idea... Its gotta be dance... Seven veils u know...
On the subject of dance and music, here is Salome (Richard Strauss) - Dance of the seven veils: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bL2fGdfG3X0
Richard Strauss (it's really Johann) is a famous composer of docking computer music.![]()
Richard Strauss ( author of the Salomé opera, inspired by Oscar Wilde) and Johann Strauss ( author of a famous waltz appreciated in SF) were not related.
OkI know. It was only a tinfoil joke.
IMHO, anyone who is in "the area" and notAlso, since whatever is out there has been in since release, it should have shown up then either as a signal source or an NPC. Plus "Take your time, watch your six." Given how we usually operate, long-range explorers are unlikely to notice either of those.
im now at SCHAFEAU RO-C B54-0
not sure where to go from here, it quite dense still and im not sure if i am on the otherside of the rift yet?
anyone?

a) Economical Plotting
b) Scanning the bejebus out of everything except roids
c) Checking the System Map for the results
d) Checking the Nav screen for POI a few times each system
is wasting their time. Not my normal Exploration Style at all.
But, but,...that's gonna take forever!

The problem is that Rho Cass seem to be impossible to reach. I don't know if it's even doable in a 40ly Conda with max jump boost. In either case, that doesn't fit well with the story. It should be reachable with a shorter jump range.
That leaves us with two options.
1. The most likely, but boring explanation. Rho Cass. is not a target in the search for the rift.
2. There is a way to hype jump via uncharted systems. There is a way that no one has found yet, to spot the location of gravity wells that are not on the GalMap. This fits the story and the hints, but we have no in game indication that it is possible.
Drew's hint: 'Whether it is found or not depends entirely on who goes looking' makes me think this may require some personal skill, like when the UA Morse code was discovered by Jmains and QorbeQ. Kahina seem to like concerts and musical soirees. Perhaps it's some kind of musical skill?
Just reading about CASSIOPEIA A
Its the strongest radio source in the Galaxy. And it is located 11,000Ly away. Which would but it squarely in the Formidine Rift.
Its Coordinates are: RA50:23 21 10 DEC50:+58 32 00
Is there any chance we can translate these coordinates to the ED Galmap?
Cheers,
Gypsy.
