The Formidine Rift - Part 2

I am fairly new to this so please accept me apologies if this is obvious or has been mentioned before: but a GRAEH sector does exist (and it's in the outer arm of the Rift, I think).

Ah. Was sure somehow sounded familiar... Was close enough...

It has :D

I would also like to point others back to Erimus's post, in case it got missed by anyone.

The Formidine Rift Communication Hub

Erimus has done an excellent job at getting more people involved and setting it up for us.
Just in and my counter finally at zero. I must be too tired though, as I can't figure out where to type anything in there... Anything I need to do once the counter is at 0?

[EDIT]: Forget it, now it works...

OK, so here are the results for Part 3 of the quest for Hassan's homeworld. (See earlier post here):

Sirius colony systems in WREDGUIA Sector checked, and do not meet binary star classifications/descriptions from Elite Reclamation:
WREDGUIA SX-L D7-92 (no station yet), Robigo.

Other named systems at approx. 400LY from Sol in Wredguia checked and do not meet same:
Gliese 59.3, HIP 3873, HIP 6779

Unclear whether other proc-gen Wredguia Colony Cluster systems listed in original Galnet are bugged, or have simply been renamed, so impossible to check some of them.

That's all for tonite folks.

The system might not have any stations in it. I have seen systems with a population as low as a whopping 24, and all where stuck in a base. As I understand from the book, this system should be very low population and might very well not contain any stations...

Easier to check first if it is a binary star system with "warm red" and "actinic blue" stars, with a habitable planet, and if it is then worry about population etc. Haven't found such a binary yet. i am guessing the stars will be named after a mythological nephew and niece, based on Greek, Roman, Arab/Islamic mythology or the like. Or possibly named nephew and niece but in a different language (Latin, Greek, Arabic, etc.). I have Han Zen searching out possible suspect familial relations. ;-)

Sorry, misinterpreted your post and thought you meant that you had found binaries, but without stations. I'm too tired...

Impressive to see the galactic map light up with commanders all over the rift... And I'm sure I only have a handful in my friend list from all those in the spreadsheet. Will have to check tomorrow for missing ones...

Here a pic with those that were online now from my friends...

I'm a little envious. I noticed that I'm apparently the only one on XBox who is interested in the Formidine Rift.

It should be about 2.5g's, you should be fine :p

If it's Icy, i'd be carefull not to roll with the SRV on any significant slopes. (high gravity + slipery ice = bad news)

As in, you cannot stop, and if you get into a crater, you might not be able to get out XD

Haha yep, been there done that. One feels somewhat stupid not being able to return to the ship because of an icy slope. I wish our SRVs had spiked tyres...

:D S

Found a bunch of galaxy maps, most of them are oriented having sol toward 12:00. Just to make sure, we are looking for the rift closer to 120deg or 150deg, or in between? In which angle does the RR line point away relative from sol?

Well today's journey ended with a lil over 700lyrs away from Rho Cass, what a tough slog it's been. Ship secured, a shot of whiskey, stretching out in bed will almost be better than the whiskey..

Once Erimus revamps the mapping project will have to have him name this whole sector the Cassiopeian Void.

Ulysses 31

Just read the Elite : Reclamation guide book looking for hints. At p55 Drew describes the root of the names for the planets of the Prism system - they are a homage to the series Ulysses 31. Ulysses 31 plays in the 31 century and after killing the cyclops he must travel across unknown space to revive his companions and find the Hyades to return to earth. Maybe there are more clues in the greek mythology to help solve this riddle. And if not, I have a reason to watch all episodes of Ulysses 31 [squeeeee]
1st episode:
