.,.. ......,. ...

Maybe this has been said before, don't know, i have not read all of this stuff.

Could that dotted line be, not a code or coordinates, but a visual representation? A map?

Just a little imagination and you can see it there, right?

It's in a good position, for the mystery. But everybody and their dog has been in that corner and found nothing.

He means scanned with the Detailed Surface Scanner

Do we really need a Detailed Surface Scanner? I thought those were added to the game at some point after launch, weren't they?

Just thinking that ditching the DSS might stretch out the jump distance.

DSS is 1.3T i believe. Would only add about @.04 to your jump range...

Yeah... its not much and I always pack a DSS. I'm just asking theoretically. Drew said that whatever it is that is to be found in the Rift could be found since launch, right? If my memory is correct the DSS was added post launch and so shouldn't be a requirement for finding whatever "it" is.

Correct, however, it may make it 'easier' to find, just like all the updates since, and upcoming updates that he has said will help us to find 'it'.

Or maybe... the 'it' is simply our wanderlust? just like Lupo/Luke, or whoever that character was that says once she get's out there, she'll find her wanderlust?! (j/k - that would just be a cruel joke....)

I thought that the detailed surface scanner was available from launch the first discovered by tag was added in 1.1. I am sure that I had one before I went out exploring which was before 1.1

Could be. I'm really not certain and my memory is unclear on this. Maybe it was available at launch but not during Gamma. Or maybe it was available during Gamma but not during Beta. Wish my brain could remember :(

I'm really beginning to think what we need to look for is a lot closer than we think.

Drew said he likes to use misdirection and that's what it looks like Kahina did. Galnet said she was outfitting for a long voyage but in the last entry she left what turned out to be fakes. She isn't going somewhere needing crazy jumps.

Drew also mentioned "core of the problem" This can have two meanings for me. Core of the galaxy or refer to the "core worlds" as he calls them in his definitive guide for reclamation book.

Really wished I wasn't so far out toward the core but maybe I should look around there.

As usual just throwing out ideas

By the way, galnet said the the medallion had a strange symbol believed to belong to dark wheel. The summary of the article in the first thread makes it sound like it is and not believed to be.

It seems to me that a lot of the search put a heavy focus on the RR line.
Given that this hint is tied to the old lady which may not be reliable, I wonder if we're not beating the wrong bush.

All depends on which edge of which arm we should be beating..

After doing a second survey of the CAS - A region, I found two neutron star systems.

HYPHEEG IX-T E3-1 => nothing special except a nice pair of lave worlds

HYPHEERB WB-K D9-4 => really close to the coordinates, but nothing special here.

I think my Cas - A hypothesis is quite excluded, though finding the neutron stars in such large area is not easy.

Whew, you scared me. I hope everyone doing the sector search understands it means a full DSS scan of every system in the sub-sector. It does doesn't it? Maybe a short primer explaining exactly what's expected needs to be added to the sheet. ie My method is DSS everything but asteroids, triangulate the first system of the sector as a marker and then only triangulate notables such as life or hazards. I don't fly 500,000 lys out looking for ppoi unless there's some hint to do so which I haven't seen.

I came in at launch and as far as I remember the DSS was always there. Differentiating between level 2 and 3 scans and the discovery tag are the only real changes I recall,,,none of which affects this easter egg hunt. More like the Grail hunt, no one really knows what it is, what it means or where it is, just they want to find 'it'.

Even though, Dark Wheel, Children of Raxxla, lore, and Luko et al just stink this is about Raxxla, it can't be because MBrooks has explicitly stated that while Raxxla is in the game and they know where it is there will be no hints or clues about its location ever. So this smelling of Raxxla could be the biggest misdirection involved.

Has anyone noticed anything different looking about witchspace out in the rift? I think I'm seeing more green and red blobby lights flashing by sometimes. Next time I see some I think i'll refly the route back and forth a couple of times and see if it's consistent on the jump and not just some colorful graphic that appear every so often. If they are consistent maybe they're like hotter-cooler indicators like hyperspace traffic cones or like the green and red lights on the station box or something. I think they're just sometimes graphics but,,,,dunno 'til ya check it out.

I noticed that too, I thought it was fatigue. it looked like nebulas or something, quite colorful. Jumps are not very pationants, maybe that's something to what we never paid attention.
I think I have noted the system in which it happened to me, if I put my hands on it I would give it a try.

Edit: it reminds me to "read between the lines." I doubt (because for me, it's a simple loading screen) but, could witchspace be "between the lines"?

Sorry for offtop a little...

Sometimes, while searching a Rift, you come across some beautiful sights...

System is QIEDEAE AA-A H0

Great pictures, thank you for sharing that.

Well... I did notice that there are certainly less stars during a jump through Witchspace... its been bugging me for a while.

I still have to question if performing a complete surface scan of planetary bodies is necessary. As I said in an earlier post I've never seen a single surface scan pop back with anything but generic text. Even the details for Earth make no mention of it being the birthplace of mankind... just the standard, "outdoor world with water-based life..." text. The only real benefit of performing a scan of ever system would seem to be making sure we've spent enough time in the system to detect an persistent POI or other signal sources.

I would recommend that if we encounter any earth-like worlds or ammonia worlds we should approach them closely from the dark side. It would be interesting to find a planet in the Rift with city lights...

I've said the same thing on here too. Visual clues/signal sources are more likely candidates for the out of the ordinary in my opion too.

That being said, I have completed full DSS scans of any subsectors that have my name against them on the sheet.

I'm still out toward the galactic core. Once I do make it to the Rift I plan on being thorough with my scans... but mostly I'll be looking for POI.

I like this. Am currently way out in totally opposite direction, but gonna check my goalpoint, head back to pop space, ditch the SRV and head to riftwards in my trusted T-6e!
