some of the imgur images show comprimised carrier signals, which we known previously point towards planetside crashed ships and other points of interest, so it might be worthwhile following up those clues as well

That's the way I would do it, and also make sure that Jaques is found beforehand, so there's an actual location to deliver the Meta-alloys to. But sad to see that Jaques really showed the middle-finger to the explorers at Beagle Point...

Sorry, I must be tired but I really did not understand this comment. As far as I can see from reading the GalNet logs that he OP was kind enough to take pictures of and post, Jaques is damaged and was thrown off course and out of Witch Space and has sent out a mayday call.
Why would you say that this is giving the middle finger to Beagle Point? I'm afraid that I just don't understand that bit.

Half the station was automated, its showing a population of 750 yet says he was alone, so the npcs were the crew of ships docked, and they have begun repairing and building colonys and constructs

EOL PROU RS-T D3-94 so theres no beforehand involved and the fact that theres a nebula right next door, there are already unoffical small scale efforts to search it for meta alloys right there to restore him. Cannon might want to jum on board to search the eol prou nebula for MAs

I don't get the whole "I'm alone, the log gives me company", aren't stations populated by tens or hundreds of thousands of people?

System map even claims a population of 750. I guess FD wanted to invoke that "lone guy stranded in space, spooky atmosphere, forboding log entries" feeling. Then forgot that the moment the first player sees this is the moment Jaques is rescued - he could just hop aboard the ship and fly back to the bubble. Heck, you could evacuate the entire population of 750 in an Anaconda.
