On the dark side of a planet I have the lights on and can see maybe 30 meters. If I hit the lights again everything gets brighter, but the light goes no further.
Can't tell you how many rocks I hit because I didn't see them until the crash.
Can we get high beams that actually project light in front of the vehicle a 100M or so? Thanks.
I approve this message. [up]
Can we get aftermarket lights to add onto our SRVs too? So we can do this?
Seriously though... I'd say it's got something to do with draw distance and the impact it has on graphics performance... similar to how you can't see inside a space station till you get fairly close to it.
I'm sure at some point they'll give us extra modules to buy for our SRVs though so we can customise them for different purposes.. a mining one with big storage, a combat one that's faster, a tank-ey one that's slower with big guns, an exploration one with bigger fuel reserves, SRV's with bigger wheels/tracks/better thrusters, etc. Maybe turret mounted spotlights that would move with it and highlight what you're shooting at? Or infrared spotlights to enhance targetting? That'd give us a reason to buy bigger SRV bays with 2 or 3 different vehicles. Plus of course there's obviously other types of SRV coming at some point too.
