i confirm that (barnacles apart) is the strangest thing i've seen on merope 5c.

well last time i found an arrow pattern from the rocks so barnicles are pretty normal

It's a very very boring planet! The sky is nice though.

But how you can see it is pointing towards Merope/5c when you are in e.g. Ross 47?

Well, select merope and you'll see where it is in the sky even though you cant jump to it. Then you get behind the UP and eyeball the trajectory and say "..yep"

I am about to hit up a Barnacle husk with a mining laser though, will record it for posterity. Wish me luck on findings!

Might have been suggested but:

Maybe the actual transmission from the UP is the key itself. Is there a way to determine if any of the permit locked areas outside the bubble are 'in-game' permit locks like Sol and Shinrarta for instance? If so maybe the UP's shutting down of the ship is actually hacking the nav computer allowing us access to certain areas of space? Whatever they are they wan't us to find something...

To those who have experienced the Up' pulse it might be worth checking if anything is different to your ships systems maybe information in the galaxy map or something? Or system map? Maybe the key represent's the system map in some way.

I have a suspicion it granted them "unknown permit". Seems like something that might have happened. But in any case we should have someone scan the UP and look at their menus, because there could be codes hidden in the way it glitches them out. Maybe even going into the map would do something.

Hi folks, I don't want to give too much away as I'm unsure exactly how this info was obtained, and have no way to back it up, but someone who can be considered a reliable source and is a well known member of the ED community claims that someone has decoded a morse message in the UP audio.

I know I'm being rather vague - I don't want to take the fun away from you guys - but seriously, look for morse.

Additional: Mining the husk with a laser did nothing. FNS Erebus is station overhead but doesn't seem hostile.

A question; What makes a Barnacle such that the Feds can strip-mine it but NOT pull it up from the surface and contain it completely?

1 its not normal sadly

2 the feds are buggy as hell

3 thosse thing are suspected to be going as deep as the planet core soo good luck pulling one out

Forgive me if this has already been brought up, but why is there a capital ship orbiting Merope 1B and possibly 2B?
It's been sitting there for days now and what's the relevance of this if any?

I did check it out the cap ship and a uss (generic adventurers) and both planets, nothing to report so far but maybe more undiscovered barnies on both moons?

This is known. They can also be found near the surface of Merope 5c, near Barnacle sites. We do not know why they are here but we DO know that the Feds have an interest in this stuff. A very active one. What that is we could not say.

Yeah I was there and saw that as well. NPC ships appeared but nothing happened really.

Oh I know it's not new. I just mean it's getting me thinking.

Whatever the Feds are doing is dangerous. They have people literally dying trying to achieve whatever their goal is. What could ever be so dangerous on Merope 5c that has people dying?
