WHA.....WHY? its a game, you act if i was stealing the food from your children

So you want others, who don't influence your experience, to stop playing a game they paid for. And you complain that people are, in return, mean to you on the internet?

FD the forums could benifit from some attentions, like a news drop or something because right now, ITS JUST A WINE FEST , and there is no cheese to go with it

I agree. It would be helpful if E would address at least some of the current issues and bugs, many of them existing since the beginning. Or just add an exciting new feature, maybe?

I would totally expect the tone to change in the forums, and I would also expect enthusiasm to return.

I think FD saw the unhappiness with grind coming. That's why they hid the grind from the Engineers beta.

It is impossible for me to believe that they did not see it.
How could they not?
Therefore it is also hard for me to understand why they chose to hurt themselves like they have done.
Why?

Maybe the pressure in getting Engineers out live after it had been delayed a month or 2!

After all the forums where alive with 'rage quitters' in April demanding the 2.1/1.6 update NW or they would be leaving the game for good. I think many of those voices are the ones now complaining about the grind and engineers!

Yeah, if you actually made a comment THAT incredibly stupid, then I understand why you would get threats. Why? Because that's not so much a statement of opinion as it is you saying that there's a huge percentage of people that YOU believe should be forced to either not play the game at all, or be force to play the way YOU think they should play. That's you forcing your beliefs on others. I won't issue any death threats, but I will say "F--- you". I for one will NEVER play Open. NEVER. I would rather stop being a PC gamer COMPLETELY before I am forced to become part of the Open Sewer community. But, the difference between you and me is that I have never said, "FD should shut down Open", because even though I hate the idea of playing online, I don't have the blatant audacity to suggest that their preferred play mode should be forced out of existence just because of what I believe. Live and let live and shut the f--- up.

Is it really stupid though, or is it just his view? if he truly feels solo does not provide anything to the game, in fact hurts the game, that's his view.
By what definition is that stupid? I don't agree with it personally but I do not see how it is stupid? maybe just maybe your reply is overly aggressive and accusing? and those that give death threats are only more so?

See above. Elite is primarily a single player game. That's why many people play it. To suggest to take away solo mode means that he implies that others shouldn't play the game. He simply has no business telling strangers that he never met and don't influence his gaming experience not to do something they have paid money for.

That's simply a "stupid" thing to suggest. And being on the interwebs, it is no wonder that some people feel insulted and overreact. That's just how people are.

That is of course a relevant reason.
But the delay was to get things right, wasn't it?

This is naturally only MY memory; but I recall all those that were ok with the delay, because they wanted a "finished product", not something thrown out in haste.

Good things DID come.
But for me, the utterly lame gathering of stuff - all based on blind luck, the God awful engineers bingo; has derailed the whole game for me.
And not only for me, as we have seen.

They must have known that, to use the popular term "grinding, on such a massive scale would ignite buckets of frustration.
So; WHY?

I am now waiting for what the next update brings.
