Horizons Suicidal AI?

Been blowing off some steam in a RES today and was having a little set to with a dangerous Cutter! all of a sudden it changes tactics from the shoot me type to the point directly at me and boost type! Was this planned? have Fdev managed to program desperation into the AI? whatever i has been done I enjoyed it as i actually had to alter my tactics. Oh and it also did it with an Elite Python.. that didn't go so well for me as my shields were down at the time!

They ram you depending on whether they think they have the tactical advantage in doing so. You will never see an Eagle ramming a Vulture for instance. In this example, the Eagle would rather use guerrilla tactics or reverse thrust keeping a relative distance from you.

Keep in mind who you're ramming as well; the ships' mass, shields and any additional armor needs to be factored in.
I ram-killed at least 6 pirate ships yesterday, the largest being an Asp. Anything larger and shields may be completely decimated. So ramming a an Elite Python wasn't such a hot idea. Happy hunting!

Yesterday in the desperate attempt to bring down my shield 2 FAS of a wing of 3 where the third one was a Python, started ramming me, only to loose their shields.
