Computer feminization

I always get annoyed when computer voices are female in video games, that kind of pandering to the lowest common denominator is so obnoxious.

Will there be an option to have a male voice for computer voicing?

I would like to be able to choose too.
But the female voice does not annoy me. I like the way it is done.

Filip, meet "Bitchin' Betty"... she has been around as long as there have been board computers in fighter planes... so over a thousand years, by now... she's an old gal indeed. ;)

That being said I have would've loved the option for a Clooney or Banderas-esque voice =D

I demand that the ships computers voices be in 'Dog'.... I'm sick of this minority rubbish, cats are getting everywhere!!

I'll see your dog demand and raise you one Maru cat demand... Or better yet 'n'boots, thereby ticking two of my boxes in one go ;)

I find the recent series of O2 adverts in the UK to be very offensive to cats. No cat would ever want 'to be more dog'.

I prefer the female voices in games over male voices any day of the week and weekends.

Seriously OP, trolling much?

I wouldn't mind an option for a "Nagging Ned" voice. The voice actor for Doug in Up! would be great, as would a Sean Connery (style) scottish burr.

If the anti-sexist mob are going to insist on having more than one options for the computer voice, then could the devs put in a Tharloubian Garglesnoop voice as well? I'm not sure how many players understand Tharloubian, but having one more option in the voices is necessary for non-humans and might be entertaining for everyone else. That, I suspect, would go in at the same time as non-English-human languages. There might be an opportunity for history/linguistic contributions to this possible arts project, translating the ship's computer voice from English-human 3000 years before game date to English-human 3600 and 4200 years before the game-date. Would anyone want to set their ships computer to speak Saxon, Viking, Imperial Latin, or Mongol Horde? If such are to be done ??? then lets ask for "not without involvement of the history and linguistics academics from the relevant countries or planets". It would also make it possible that you can buy a cheap used piracy ship at a disreputable world whose computer only speaks, say, 12th century Mongolian, and does so quite aggessively.

like there is many options

man woman thats all ya got .. lowest common denominator it never ceases to amaze me what people stamp their feet at .. having said that .. hal would have been a nice option but a lot of work in reality

I am a bit surprised by most of the denigrating or even hostile reactions to op's request. His motivation aside I think it is a good idea to have a choice. I would even enjoy multiple male and female voices to choose from and perhaps more machine-like robotic voices as well. It might be fun to buy a new ship and realizing it has a different voice, be it female, male or robotic.

Considering the fact that we will be able to customize our ships to great extend, why is it so strange to want to customize this aspect as well?
I would like to be able to do so.

That is fine, but the point is being able to customize the experience. Some will go with a female voice, others will choose a male voice.
