Horizons Speed of super-cruise too slow (in certain areas)

Hi,

Does anyone think that the speed of super-cruise should be increased for taking off from planets and arriving at orbital stations?

I understand the distance needs to be represented to give value to things in the game. But I find the wait during the initial super-cruising away from a planets gravity well and the time slowing down for stations to be too long.

Could these be reduced slightly?

Its fine the way it is. What you are experiencing is a somewhat accurate portrayal of the gravity well. This is actually a cool thing from a scientific standpoint. Watch your scanner and as the planet doing the welling gets bigger you slow down more. If you want faster travel, give the planets a wider birth and try changing your vectors on approach and departure. Last thing we want is this game becoming arcady by removing stuff like this as you are suggesting.

Space is big. Be grateful we have the fast travel we have. ;)

No.

Planet and station approach/departure times in supercruise are not really an issue, if you're travelling between two nearby systems the jump and super-cruise times are already less than half of your total travel time in some cases. Since supercruise travel isn't even a majority of the total travel time you're actually affected more by docking/undocking and boosting out of masslock range when leaving the station. With planets its actually similar, you can jump to another system after achieving only a few km altitude. If it were any faster then supercruise would be like a "teleport" where the travel times become insignificant.

Not without completely disrupting the game balance for trading and other time-sensitive game activities. There might be some reason to allow you to "micro-jump" from a system's main star to a secondary star within the system to avoid having to make 250,000k trips in supercruise which can take 5-10 mins but even that would take away a lot of the "experience" of some of the trade runs (and was in fact the entire reason we had the CG to build Bluford Orbital in LHS 3447). For what you're suggesting, however, no there is no need to reduce those times and it would have a massive effect on game balance, especially on trading.

Supercruise is fine as it is. I'd suggest micro jumps to other stars in systems would be a better fix. Say for distances over 100 000ls
