Title - Denton Patreus -A Specialist in Failure?

This morning a number of small circulation news outlets around the Federation and some independent systems carried a series of scathing attacks on Admiral Denton Patreus as their lead story. The articles which clearly share a common origin allege that it was Patreus' mishandling of the Pegasai was that allowed the Kumo Crew to survive before accusing the senator of bungling the campaign against the Emperors Dawn group until the Federal Navy did his job for him at the Battle of Kausalya, then come right up to date by pointing to the failure of the recent Imperial military intervention in the Pleiades. The pieces conclude by asking how a man with such a record of failure, especially one so closely associated with the very man who murdered the former emperor continues to rise ever higher at the imperial court, questions who has backed his rise to power and a prominence that it claims is clearly beyond his abilities and what shadowy forces have propelled him there.
It is unknown where these stories originate from but it is clearly a group or individual with substantial funds and a big grudge against Admiral Patreus.

Title: The Search for Salomé

Following the recent news of the boarding and disappearance of Commander Salomé's ship, the Children of Raxxla have mounted a search and rescue operation to look for their missing leader.

Commander Thorn of the Children of Raxxla said: "The Children of Raxxla have been notified of the Mayday call. We will find Commander Salomé and she better be alive and unharmed when we do, otherwise the perpetrators will experience first-hand that the Children of Raxxla can fire more than just discovery scanners."

On the identity and motives of the perpetrators Commander Thorn said: "The Mayday message and the recent slandering campaign by the Imperial Citizen leads us to believe that Commander Salomé was forcibly silenced by the Empire before she could uncover Imperial secrets."

"The Children of Raxxla ask anyone who has witnessed the boarding of Commander Salomé's ship to contact us as soon as possible."

Title: Obituary - Commander Toru

The Pilots Federation is sad to report the loss of one of its members, Commander Toru. Toru passed away on Saturday 13th August at the age of 21, having sadly suffered from depression leading to him taking his own life.

Toru was well known for his outstanding chivalry, fairness, and friendliness. He worked hard in his military career and education, and was passionate about the opportunities that space flight offered mankind. He is survived by his much loved parents, brother, and many friends.

Pilots are reminded that whether in deep space or in the busiest of cities planetside, local and galactic networks offer emotional support from groups under the umbrella of the Befrienders Worldwide, a pre-hyperspace organisation from the mid-20th century that continues to this day to help those who need someone to talk to. Local groups can be found via them or network searches, and anyone feeling in need is encouraged to contact them for their assistance.
Discussions of a suitable memorial are in progress, and commanders are welcome to consider a donation to a group near them.

Submitting Commander: Yllanis

Thank you /u/CMDREdmondson for this, and sorry if its a little over the character limit, I wasn't sure what to remove..

Glad to help Yllanis. Reddit link for context, hopefully the character limit can be stretched as I think a lot of people would like to see a reference to Befrienders and other organisations that can help others that find themselves in such hard circumstances.

System: Alpha Fornacis

Title: Dragons Rising

Turmoil is currently rising within Alpha Fornacis.

With the arrival of the Welsh Dragon wing, many groups are starting to feel their "hot breath" down the back of their necks, as they push for a more stable foothold.

A spokesperson for Alpha Fornacis Allied Corporation recent stated that "although things have been cordial since the rise of the Dragons, inevitably things are heading towards blows."
Though parties have stated that, on the whole, most of the current powers in the system are "booming" thanks to the efforts of this new group.

After much waiting around in Clement station, a reporter managed to squeeze a few words from one of the Dragons, " We are here, we need a base, sorry to allied but we need them to go..."

Hard words indeed.

Title: GALCOP PLEDGES SUPPORT TO COLONIA
Copy:

GalCop have pledged their support and protection to the fledgling colony surrounding Jaques Station.

Kermit Laphroaig, spokesperson for the group, had this to say about the decision:

"Colonia provides an excellent opportunity to begin GalCop's colonisation initiative, far from the politics of ancient grudges. There's plenty of room and boundless resources to share. GalCop respects the sovereignty of Colonia and wishes to defend Colonia as a whole."

GalCop drew widespread support and recognition recently following their involvement with the Dangerous Games events. A name with a venerable history, the reborn GalCop can trace its lineage to an alliance between the East India Company and several privateer organisations including the Diamond Frogs.

GalCop have agreed to support the Colony's own Colonia Militia in safeguarding the freedom and independence of the new society. It's thought that joint training exercises will commence soon.

You should scratch that. Galnet is - for its most part - an ingame news-service and THIS is clearly Meta-Knowledge of an OOC Event based for 'players'. Do you really think the Superpowers would look kindly to you if they actually knew you openly destroyed the markets around Cubeo with a diamond flood and before that engaged in massive piracy operations in Federal territory? Don't get me started on the smuggling...

If you want GalCop to be "in lore" known for that, congratulations.

The Dangerous Games were advertised on GalNet, so it's not necessarily "meta-knowledge" for this article to mention the Dangerous Games.

Here are a few samples:
The Dangerous Games Begin
EG Pilots win Wildcard Competition
The Rise to Power Begins
EG Pilots win Rise to Power

And honestly, if you look into what the several of the current Powers are doing week in and week out, I doubt they would bat an eye at the shenanigans that went on in the Dangerous Games...

Well I personally dislike it if FD uses the "ingame" newssystem for that. It more than kills immersion. That aside, as long as their "Meta" news stay out of the game, I don't care as much as I could. It is just an info in a players browser then. So fine, if it goes to "player" Galnet, I don't care.

But GalCop wants this - word by word - in Jaques. Which would make this equal to admitting to piracy, smuggling, murder and theft... and currency devaluation with huge bust in local Aisling space.

I don't know about your Superpowers, but we don't talk "are they as bad as Feds and Imps", we talk "Would the Fed and Imp accept them DOING it." The answer is no. Just like China, Russia and the USA would kick your ass for any assault on their trade ships, airplanes, theft of huge gold reserves or the active assault on currency. They would retaliate so bad it hurt.

This isn't even a GalCop article. I was asked for a statement and I gave it.

Love your av, btw

So only the "quote" is from GalCop. Then it is just one more reason to just scratch that Meta-DG note. At least for the ingame article if it goes to Jaques. If it only goes to "Browser Galnet" it wouldn't really matter. I would still like it to not mention the Meta-Game level in the news.

Love your av, btw

I talked with Brenner Soriah about it once and told him/her where I got it. It is actually based on an artist's artificial race of nature loving folks - wanton or not after assimilation. They work with nanites. I got it from a free game they made with a screencap.

Your Kermit though clearly had a rough time. Wouldn't really think he would go as far as enrolling into the army to avoid Miss Piggy.
