General / Off-Topic i want to like this game but i am finding it hard and with s.c dfm coming out today

hi every one now like you i love a good space sim

but this is falling far short of being one for these reasons

1. the sidewinder only has 4 cargo space so trading is to long and boring

2. the only one lazer is just stupid as its never one on one and if it is its always a cobra but most the time its 3 or even 4 on one

3. the graphics are no good at all if you dont believe me look at x3 ap 3.0 and thats 3 years old or s.c dfm, x rebirth, eve vr,

4. the ships in this game are just omg w.t.h is that wheres the imagination they are boring take s.c the ships in that are beautiful they are works of art in this they are just yawn

5. the space stations same as the ships they are boring wheres the imagination are we really getting 100 billion stars of boring ships and boring stations ITS BORING

now i am not saying its all bad i know when you get some good weapons the combat is fun and docking is fun all i am asking is please give me a trading ship and put some imagination into this game interesting ships and stations not the boring stuff we got
 
You do know that this is a beta, it's not the finished game.

That seems to be your expectation.
 
Its Premium Beta, just after alpha and the basics ... its like a car without interrior, paint, lights, only frame, still in work ...

As for the "Boringness" of ships. Remember they are based on 1984 Elites wireframes. They have to be recognizable, which does limit how they can look.
And for some of us, well, me might prefer ships that look utilitarian instead of flying peacocks.
Also ship customizations will come, as well as different space stations.
 
There is absolutely no information that SC AC will be released today. They are yet to update bug report.

1. I would like to remind you that SC AC will feature only 3 ships and there won't be any trading at all.

2. Did not you figure out that it is possible to buy equipment at the station yet? 2200Cr and you double your damage.

3. Graphics are WIP, so definitely will be improved. And if you say that one game has better graphics and the other is not could you also compare the hardware requirements for these games? How much would you need to pay for a rig capable providing playable performance in SC and ED?

4. I find most of SC ships ugly and outdated with 20th century design, with Hornet and 300I resembling modern fighter jets, not futuristic space ship. Aurora, Cutlass, Connie - simply ugly. The only beautiful ships are alien. ED has far more futuristic ship designs.

5. And you think SC will be much different?

It is BETA and who is to say the SC DFM is going to be any better/worse!

Please do not try and compare the two games, they are different in a multitude of different ways.

That said I am looking forward to the SC DFM as I backed it too, but ED has set a high benchmark....

The ship designs are inspired more by boats than fighter planes, which isn't everyone's cup of tea. One thing I would say though - the ships and stations we've seen so far have been mostly towards the functional end of the game's spectrum (the Eagle being the main exception). The concept art for e.g. the Dolphin might be more up your street.

Ok; glad you like Star Citizen, go for it. I'll stay here...
 
the sidewinder is a starting ship, literally just to get off the ground.

you say please "give me a ship".... well you can get them but there is no giving, (or buying with real money) you have to earn one.

you say the combat is fun, well in which case a mere 5-10 hrs in the beta should give you enough cash to get a proper out and out combat vehicle - the eagle.

am pretty sure once the game goes gamma there will be some nice entry level trading ships as well which will be fairly easy to get (adder perhaps???)

I would say at this point the combat being fun is the most essential thing to have gotten right. You say they have done that much already so.................. :)

If your intention is to provoke some kind of pre-teen tribal response about space sims, you've come to the wrong place. Please realise that there is MORE than enough space in the gaming universe for two new game projects - both with good pedigree and lofty goals! We've been starved of decent content for years now, then two come along at once. How lucky are we? Fantastic, eh?

I hope you have an awesome experience with the Star Citizen dogfighting module, and all the other stuff coming after it, in time. Play whichever one you like best. Some people are dead keen on both - it's not an "either/or".
 
Read something about plans for ED, you are just pointing out things, which are under heavy development and will turn in a big advantage in the end. For example, the stations will be procedurally generated, we will have hundreds or maybe thousands of different looking stations when the game is released. Also Sidewinder is smallest ship you can fly now, do not expect it to shine and have a big cargo, but in the final game, there will be an option for you to buy a small trading ship with bigger cargo.

Arena Commander will be cool if you like Capture the Flag, Deathmatch and other game modes of that ilk. :D :p

Given the choice, I know where I will be spending my time.... :eek:
 
For each his own.
Some people will like ED more, some will like SC more, and some will just like them both.
You can give your opinion about ED and dislike it all you want, but don't praise SC as some superior product until it has actually delivered something playable that gives you substance to judge it from.
For all you know in a few days ( if it finally gets released) you may dislike the DFM a lot more than you had wished, or it could be the greatest thing ever, we have yet to see.
So keep an open mind on both ED and SC, they are unfinished products with a very long way to go still.
 
i will have to admit i am a fan boy to s.c just look at it its hard not to be and there is info saying the dfm is if it gets the go will be out today ben said that they are having the meeting this morning since it was supposed to be out on the 29th the severs will be in place and on reddet or what ever its called the devs said it would take between 3 to 5 hours to be up for download for everyone and yes i know it has only 3 ships and two levels but look at them its just in a class of its own
 
Plageis I will also give SC a go but currently there is nothing to see and a simple 3 ship mission mini game isnt much to make any reasonable comparison.

When SC goes beta late 14 or early 15 then we will all have something more substantial than guess work to make comparisons and comments on. Until there is something like a beta any comments are pure speculation.

Here is Friday's update:
"What happens next? The Arena Commander team will be working through the weekend to test this build, and fix any issues as they are found. Next week, we will have another “go/no-go” meeting with the worldwide development teams. Our next update will be on Monday and we will continue to update you on any issues and their impact to the schedule then."

So today they will only decide if it is a go or no-go. Which means that there will be no release today, at least in Europe.
